I am in UK, and was searching especially for two items on my Wanted List. None
of the UK shops could provide both, so I extended the search to "Europe":
this included the same UK shops and several in Eastern Europe, such as Ukraine,
but still none with both items. When I select "European Union" shops
in Germany, Belgium etc. that can satisfy my order came up" Does this mean
BL does not consider the EU to part of Europe?
Shouldn't a search on Europe cover the entire continent and EU be a sub-set
of that?

You’d think so… but EU is at the same level (in the same dropdown) as Europe,
Middle East, North America…, so they are (all) exclusive of each other(s).

or Asia?

Geographically Turkey is part of the Middle-East. I know they wanted to join

No, it did not happen.
They are (were?) in Eurovision though, but then Israel also is in Eurovision
and there’s Australia too 🙄
Turkey may also be in some “Europe-something” football competitions. I don’t
follow that.
And if you want complicated, Turkey is in:
— the EU Customs Union,
— the BSEC (Black Sea Economic Cooporation),
— the Council of Europe,
— the European Political Community.
