there is a message that says activity blocked: You can no longer buy or sell
in the Philippines. What could be the reason?

Hi and welcome

Unfortunately, BrickLink can't meet the requirements of the new tax laws
in the Philippines and has had to withdraw from there.  Hopefully, it's only
temporary.

The fact that a new user from the Philippines was allowed to register is a problem.
Bricklink, why would you allow that?

Because buying and selling are not the only things you can do on BrickLink as
a member.
There's the Gallery and My Collection for instance.

But surely Bricklink would have some kind of warning pop-up or banner when a
new user registers from the Philippines to let him know that he won't be
able to buy or sell here, right? ... right?

Because they are allowed to use studio and the database and other functionality,
just not buy and sell.
