Hi,
I had 5 transactions with an apparently solid buyer (600 evaluations) during
february and march.
Last one was mid march, completed by the buyer with a Positive evaluation on
March 29th.
May 5th, I'm alarmed by a paypal email that a claim has been opened by this
buyer. reason : your buyer made opposition to his bank, and reported that a transaction
was made without his permission. Transaction amount has been frozen until problem
resolution.
At that time, on May 5th, I seem to be the first "victim". Today, I had
testimonies from other Big BL sellers (3 of them so far) that the same user has
made the same nasty trick to them, but for 3 to 5 transactions (still only one
for me, lucky me !).
Several contacts have been made with him so far : he's playing dumb/victim,
that he doesn't understand what's happening, that he's trying to
find answers...
My question is simple : I won't do any public shaming, but how to report
this user to BL admins, so that they can investigate and any that measures could
be taken against this "allegedly" scammer, and his account suspended/closed
to avoid any further troubles for BL sellers ?
That’s for “non-transactional related problems” but 1) the fact they are doing
it to many sellers makes it general, 2) there’s no real alternative but that
all of you try and file an NPB when the money transactions are cancelled by PayPal.
Member reported, but I couldn't even type anything or copy the link to this

Hoping admins will read it.
We take all reports seriously and will take the necessary next steps.
You sure?
I have reported a seller several times already for having in his terms that he
accepts cash payments while not having the necessary feedback/selling experience
to have off-site payments enabled but every time I received a response that there
was nothing wrong.

Hey there!
Me and another seller (LA PETITE BRIQUE store) just had the same issue, Paypal
sending email saying GeantPoire7906 user has filed a complaint and ask for refund.
I jus reported this buyer, sent an email to the BL support team, and obviously,
we replied to Paypal mentioning his orders have been received and we got positive
feedbacks too.

Oh wow.
I've reported him, sent the link and a PDF of this discussion (prior to your
message) to our last PayPal complaint from him.
Normally we immediately refund this kind of ultra rare case of non authorized
payment, but here I asked to PayPal to check how many complaints he opened and
if it's normal (especially months after, having received and left positive
feedback).

The bastard Just open a claim on all 4 others transactions... 🤬
As for 1001, he was making a joke: “Pardon my French” is a common excuse in English

Ben, il le fait, donc c’est possible…
Maintenant, s’il n’a pas une bonne excuse, il y aura sûrement des conséquences
par PayPal et par sa banque.
I've reported the information to PayPal, and they have over 40-50 pending
disputes... You must provide all tracking information in your disputes to obtain
a refund.

as for tracking?

English : he did agaoin today for another order in a friend's store on BL
Hi
I talked to him this evening on the phone
He has not been very clear about the problem but :
- he didn't file all these claims himself
- he is aware of the problem
- he is extremely embarassed and super stressed out
- he can't do anything right now because he has to deal with his bank first
- he has an insane amount of unread messages on BL which he wants to keep as
unread in order to find all orders when he can close all the disputes on Paypal
He is doing everything he can to solve the issue

That's... supernatural.
Either:
1) The guy did this, and he's just a lyer.
2) He did this, but he's delusional or schizo - and need professional care.
3) He didn't do anything. But then someone did. But imagine I'd hack
your PayPal account, would I better buy a 5 foot Samsung TV or / and a LEGO Millenium
Falcon, or ask a refund for a 3€ order to PayPal (what happened in our Shop)?
No hacker would do this.
In short, if it's not him, it could be someone REALLY bad around him, trying
to make him pay something. Family? An ex? A competitor??
I'd call the Police.
Or the worst hacker I've ever heard about. But then change your password,
call PayPal ask to lock temporaarily, fix this - it takes a 1 hour maximum.
I don't see any coherenet explanation for now.
He may need help, for his computer, himself, or the people around him.

There is also the possibility (although it seems unlikely) that he contacted
the bank about one unrecognized transaction through PayPal and they saw many
of them and reversed them all.
He's clearly young, like student young. Maybe the credit card he linked to
his Paypal is one of his parents'

Guy is here since May 20, 2021.
So he placed more than 1000 orders for 4 years, say he was underage, but now
he must be 18+ yrs old, it's the moment the parents decide to cancel his
latest transactions?
That could be an explanation.
As a parent I wouldn't do this, but talk with the young adult, maybe refuse
the card anymore, but cancel 6 months of transactions I wouldn't; see now
he's tons of problems.

It seems the heart of this story is overreaction, from the person who initiated
the chargebacks and/or from the bank if they extended their scope.
So, easy to say for me as I’ve no horse in this race, but everybody should just
take a step back and not add to the confusion.
If you’re a seller who got a chargeback, don’t panic.
There’s three possibilities:
— either the buyer will be able to solve the situation quickly and reverse the
chargebacks,
— or the chargebacks will go on but the buyer will find a way to refund you a
bit later,
— or it’s a weird and harebrained scam and you won’t see your money back ever.
In any case, worrying about it won’t help, piling on the buyer won’t help. Give
them time to solve it.
If you’re the buyer, take a breath, solve the situation with the bank, with PayPal,
and, don’t panick over BrickLink. Sure, there’ll be a few consequences but I’m
sure everybody will be understanding when everything is solved in the end.
I know, it doesn't make sense.
But the scam thing doesn't make sense either. Scammers create new accounts,
noob scammers try their hand on 1 or 2 transactions, scammers don't answer
the phone and try to justify themselves

it?
You do have notifications, via mail or the Paypal app, so at 1 point, you happen
to know what's happening on your Paypal account.
AND I guess his/her parents would have talked to him/her bout it.
So, there has to be someone who lies or is really sick..
At this point, Bricklink and Paypal have to revoke his rights and shut down his
account.
But quickly would be better.

to Belokan :
It's really super weird that someone else would do this without him changing
his Paypal password or having been notified before, isn't it?
There have been a few, like 2 buyers who already tried to cancel their orders
on Paypal before, but it was just because their orders had been lost during shipping
overseas, and not because they claimed they didn't buy them !
Has anybody else actually spoken to him? michaeljeru you mention several contacts.
It's hard to believe that he is willing to "suicide" his BL account
by attempting this massive retroactive scam. I know I can be naive sometimes
but he sounded really stressed out on the phone (his voice was shaking)
My instincts is that he did something stupid that got his Paypal hacked, that
his bank freaked out. And why would he answer the phone? He immediately asked
if I was calling about Bricklink. He told me he didn't want to get banned
from Bricklink...
Just google his name you'll find him quite easily, and his family members
on a rather "serious" social media.
He would be extremely stupid if it was intentional because it can be really easy
to publicly shame his attitude. (Of course I'm not telling anybody to do
so)

The 1st orders for which he asked refund on Paypal were the ones in February,
and now some others later in 2025.
I guess there's a time limit on Paypal for which you can ask refunds..

180 days but I don't know if the same limit applies to credit card chargebacks.
