I'd say FUD and BS
PayPal represents a HUGE part of on line payments.
Here 75%.
Even La Poste for paying stamps here in France accepts PayPal. This simply can't
be.

Which ones?
Is it “press” with big scare quotes?

  can’t be sure how
accurate they are,

Then you have to consider them as not accurate at all until proven otherwise.

that the EU is considering joining Turkey in not accepting
PayPal payments.

Simply, no.

There’s some noise about the need to create alternatives to PayPal, and Visa,
and Google, and, well, any tech service we don’t have here.
This’s been going on for a long time now.  Maybe one day they’ll find a way to
make it happen.

There’s recently been more noise about taxing services, because though EU shockingly
doesn’t import ugly gas-sucking trucks from the USA, EU imports a lot of services
from there.

But nothing about totally forbidding those services.

Apparently, more and more, when someone’s accusing someone else of doing something
bad, that means it’s actually the accuser who is doing it.

Hate to think what this will do to all the stores on BL if it happens, many of
us only accept these payments and it is required for instant checkout.

Mayabe simply stop borrowing troubles?

Hopefully things will get sorted before BL has to consider what happens next.

Well, considering BL’s usual reaction time….

There’s nearly always such scuttlebutt, just a bit more of the fear mongering
sort nowadays Prompted for example by EU lawmaker/s raising the prospect
of hitting PayPal with levies or fees. There's also been recent high-level
talks of creating an EU alternative to both PayPal and VISA. It's this kind
of "talk" that quickly turns to widespread rumor via media, intentional
or not. It's up to you to determine the credibility of such.

Meanwhile, beyond the usual rumblings are actual plans and actions in motion.
Such as PayPal and JP Morgan in an effort to expand reach within the UK
and EU countries, are currently trying to leverage digital platforms in both
marketplaces, in order to reach more UK and EU businesses with their services.
