I have multiple items in my cart but when I go to check out, I have to agree
to buy before knowing what the shipping cost is going to be. I am in the United
States and the seller is in Canada. When I searched the message boards, there
was much conversation about tariffs but not flat shipping. I don't want to
commit to buy and then get slammed with a huge shipping cost. Thoughts?
Many sellers have a quote option enabled, where you can request a shipping quote
before committing to buy. If the seller doesn’t have that enabled and you’re
unable to send them a message to ask (because new members can’t send messages),
feel free to mention which seller it is here on the forum, and one of the helpful
forum members can ask on your behalf.

I agree with the other answer to your question. See about getting a quote from
the seller first.
Regarding the uncertainty of the tariff situation, UPS is rolling out a new Global
Checkout API that hopefully PayPal will integrate. The idea is that a Buyer will
be able to see all costs upfront, including tariffs, brokerage fees, etc. rather
than getting a bill from UPS a month after the international package is delivered
in the U.S. That's gonna be really useful, especially if PayPal and Bricklink
incorporate that API into the Bricklink checkout process.
I'd post a link to it, but links are banned on this forum. : (
Thank you all so much!! I just joined Bricklink today and was unfamiliar with
how things worked. I did find the quote option and sent it. I appreciate the
responses. Very excited to explore and familiarize myself with the community.

Buy from a USA based seller with instant checkout enabled.
