I wrote another post about it 2 weeks ago when I applied for the VAT exemption
through the new SME scheme in all EU member states and some already granted it
but I realised that BrickLink's distance selling system is not prepared for
such differentiation: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1506890
I also contacted the Help Desk but I've just received a totally useless answer
by someone who confused the margin scheme with this new SME scheme. Margin scheme
is for used goods, that's a different story.
Detailed page about the new SME scheme: https://sme-vat-rules.ec.europa.eu/index_en
As mentioned, this new scheme is available since 01.01.2025 therefore BrickLink's
VAT system must be adjusted in order to be able to differentiate between each
EU member state.
Admins or whoever is responsible, please kindly look into this and implement
it as soon as possible. Thank you in advance!
We are already in Q2 but BrickLink's VAT system is still not able to differentiate
between countries. You either charge VAT for all member states or charge for
none by disabling distance selling and stop selling to the whole EU.
From April 4th, my VAT exempt status is granted in all EU member states except
Bulgaria, Lithuania, Poland and Spain while in my store it still shows VAT for
all EU buyers and it's not possible to change that in the store settings.
I also needed to cancel a B2B order to Italy since the buyer was confused by
this and he didn't want to pay full price which is uderstandable but I lost
an €250+ sale due to this.
Of course not, this is BrickLink. I got the reply below on March 20th, no update
since then while I’m already VAT exempt in all except 3 EU member states.
“I went ahead and reached out to our team with the information you provided and
were currently looking into this in order to find a solution. Once I get a response
back, I'll make sure to reach out an update you.”
