What can I (as a seller) do about the provided IOSS number being ignored?
I triple checked with my national post office, and they confirmed that I provided
the IOSS number correctly.
Foreign post office plainly ignores me (as does BrickLink - top-notch customer
service as usual, I may add...).
Post office told the buyer that since the package is from outside EU they have
to pay the extra fee + VAT or they won't get the package.
I had this happen more than half a dozen times already and getting really frustrated...
This hasn't happed on any other platform we sell on, of course.
Anything I can do to solve this continuous issues?
Fun fact: I've never had any issues prior to July 2024 and sent dozens of
packages just fine.
Does your shipping method provide the IOSS digitally when postage is purchased?
Just writing it on the package or customs form isn't good enough here. It
must be transmitted directly.
And, I am not sure what BrickLink is supposed to do about a shipping issue of
this type.

Yes, it's transmitted correctly, digitally (as I create the labels online
myself) all according to IOSS terms.
Swiss Post ruled all errors out on their side (they manually checked the last
few packages I've sent).
Have you ever had any successful delivery, i.e. no double charging VAT? Does
this happen if sending to some particular countries or is it random?
I haven't heard any issue about my packages sent to Europe. This might be
an issue of Swiss Post. So I would change courier to ship to other European countries,
like UPS, DhL,...

It's trasmitted electronically, and, as I said this can be ruled out. Swiss
Post manually checked the past orders going out and they confirmed everything
was transmitted correctly.
They also told me to check if the IOSS is still valid as they expect this to
be the issue here.
Changing courier isn't an option, really. Swiss Post has a monopoly and DHL,
DPD charge triple the price while being hardly accessible to businesses shipping
a handful of orders a month max.
But, at least I've now got a BrickLink message that I can forward complaining
customers. That basically says it's the import countries faults and everyone
is SOL.
