Having read some of the many comments about our new navigation bar, I am inclined
to agree with most of our frustrated community members. I also have found it
difficult to find my way around, took some time to figure out how to add parts
to my store inventory. So I guess my question is why? Just why? Was it broken,
unusable or totally inefficient? Not at all. So why? Sure, make it look nicer.
Update the look, modernize. But to change the way it functions? Hmmm, not a good
idea. Look at the hundreds of comments, that should give everyone a fair idea
of how the community feels about it. It looks cramped, too busy and the navigation
bar does not change. Do I wish to look at the bricklink designer program when
I am working in my store? No, so why must I look at this whilst finding that
it takes three clicks to do something that used to take one?
The next question is how hard is it for new members to find what they are looking
for? Will this affect sales?

I have an example of a missing functionality:

How do I get to https://www.bricklink.com/myActivity.asp now? Except googling
for "bricklink my activity" and click on the first search result, like
I did to find it again?

Thanks - at least it's reachable somehow.

Link to your own store is also available in classic view.

Hopefully, classic view will be available a little bit longer.

I imagine the goal is to push their other products more heavily - Studio and
BDP. I guess most existing users are Marketplace users and feel they don't
need to be reminded of these every time they want to use a marketplace or catalogue
function, especially as this now adds many extra clicks/menu choices to do what
used to be quick and easy.

It isn't really obvious that cleaning up the graphics will draw in more users
though, as the same old style pages sit behind the white space of the front page
and header.

Agreed. There has to be good reason the BDP dropdown is 10x the size of the
'store' icon.

One problem is that it can’t be “BDP” because no one knows what that means.

It can’t be “Designer Program” either because every one thinks that means “Studio.”

So it needs to be the full “BrickLink Designer Program.” 🤷‍♂️

There's enough space on the header for it to be two lines of text, which
would save loads of space.

To be honest as a secondary function of the site, it doesn't need to be front
and centre of the screen all the time at all. I understand it needs to be promoted,
but most users of the site are either buying or selling, so wanted lists, search
options and store orders pages need to be the easiest and quickest things to
access.

I imagine that is why they put it front and centre in a big banner, because they
want it to have equal weight to their other products, Marketplace and Studio.
I think the BDP (or ADP as it was) was a major factor in them buying BL in the
first place.

Yes I thought the same as you on the basis that all those menus options should
be of equal size with no 'one' option more prominently displayed than
another and ideally that would need to be achieved by placing the header text
within different coloured buttons/blocks of equal size even is that means BDP
goes on two lines and Studio gets more area than is required for its very short
text

However whilst its okay to display all those options when first logging into
Bricklink do we really need to be able to have permanent quick access to these
menus at all times?

I don't use Studio or BDP at all and I'm sure others don't use Marketplace
and Community therefore once someone clicks Marketplace perhaps they only need
to see and have quick access to Marketplace links alone as that is where that
particular user is probably intending to spend much of their day?
If I want to go to use one of the other main options I'd simply click the
Bricklink Logo to revert back to the main menu

Both BDP and Studio need to be prominent on the main landing page for the site
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/main.page, but they don't need to be prominent
enough on the action bar that icon to take you to areas that are the main purpose
of the site are downgraded.

BDP_is a cash cow for LEGO. Little to NO upfront costs - all sales are presales.
Once you understand that, It's easy to see why this is so heavily promoted.

I'm convinced whoever designed this update and whoever gave approval doesn't
actually use Bricklink.
