Wow. All this seller's items have incredibly high shipping charges. The store
is clearly manipulating shipping costs to keep item prices low to avoid BL fees.
And it is not a mistake by the seller, as evidenced by the feedback they left
/ replied to. The seller is clearly intentionally doing it.
And it messes up the price guide.
Yet how to report? None of the existing report an item for sale statements actually
fits. And it is every single item they sell, not individual items.

I would just choose the reason that's the closest match and then write an
explanatory note. I think the reason doesn't ultimately matter very much.

If it’s all the items, then I wouldn’t report the items (one by one!!) but the
member.
And there, there’s “suspected of scam or fraud” or simply “other.”

There store terms also shows that they are trying to make most of their profit
off of shipping when they state, "We do Not combine Shipping, All itmes are
subject to there own shipping costs".

That would be bad enough if they were charging realistic parcel shipping costs
for each item and then doing it multiple times. If a store does that and they
are still reasonable priced overall, I'd just order one at a time. But this
case is even worse when you put something into your cart realise that the shipping
costs being charged are 2-3x the value of the set plus postage from other sellers.
It is easy to least favourite the store, and normally I'd ignore after that.
But this case is particularly fraudulent, displaying prices that are in no way
possible to buy at.

Sad truth is there will always be someone who will manipulate a selling platform
because they care about nothing other than themselves.
BL should stop this type of practice before it gets out of hand and harms the
overall integrity of the entire site.
Which is why eBay charges their selling fee on shipping charges. To stop this
type of thing.

And to make the link with a recent thread (in Dutch), it’s also why there’s VAT
on shipping and why it’s at the same rate as the goods, even when you buy stamps
at 0% VAT

Yes things are clear now, i got me an accountant to handle it.
So everything should be ok now. The IRS are major thief's hahaha

When ebay did this they reduced the FV fee by 1% on the merchandise and added
the 10% fee on shipping which made it pretty much the same net selling cost.
What this did was eliminate the incentive to play the rip-off shipping cost game.
I'm not sure how this could be handled fairly on BL.
Perhaps add "exorbitant shipping cost" rule to the TOS and make it a
reason to report.

I imagine it would need manual intervention but instant bans if caught doing
it, the same as if for scamming, would help.
That said, the practice when pushed too far such as this is rare and clearly
doesn't work for tricking buyers into paying given how many orders they have
had. It is just annoying when the price guide gets messed up.
I only noticed it as I was pricing some sets for sale and couldn't understand
why someone was selling new and sealed sets for such low prices but it soon became
obvious why.

That's my thought as well. It's not a common thing here on BL from what
I've seen. On ebay it was insane with most sellers abusing shipping in that
way, so they had to make a blanket change. No need for that here IMO

I agree it is not a common problem but why does one need to wait until it becomes
widespread to take action. If for no other reason, to keep the price guide accurate.

Generally changes that are made are likely to be prioritized - is the problem
high enough compared to whatever else the team(s) are being asked to do? Then
it comes down to whether they have the capacity to make the changes necessary
for it.
Genuine question: How do you raise this type of issue so that the team(s) consider
addressing it?
* Is reporting the problem enough?
* Is it good enough that this thread is raised, and there is a discussion?
* Does it need a suggestion to be raised in a different forum?

It can happen the other direction to as it did me just 10 minutes ago shipping
from Calgary to New Lab.
Bricklink has the default postage for insta checkout as $45.00. When shipping
through Stallion and choosing between UPS/Purolator/ICS the cheapest was Purolator
for just under $75.00.
Obviously instant checkout is exactly that and the end payment result to Paypal
is final. So I as the seller lose $25.00 more on top of fees. Which I might add
some fees are charged on that $25.00 because bricklink things I made that extra
25.00 on the set and I didnt but still have to pay 12+ dollars there too.
I am not saying any of this for sympathy, because being xmas I would have sent
the set even if the shipping was $175.00 because I believe as a seller I am only
as good as my reputation in my transactions.
Propose.....at instant checkout the seller can/should be allowed to alter the
shipping cost as discretion.

You as the seller are responsible for creating shipping tables, BrinkLink does
not create shipping tables for you.
Propose.....at instant checkout the seller can/should be allowed to alter the
shipping cost as discretion.
It wouldn't be very instant if the seller can change it at their discretion
once an order is placed. Or if before the order is placed, it already exists
as you set your own shipping fees.

Do not make the mistake of thinking that BrickLink sets or decides anything about
your shipping charges. They do not ensure any published settings, shared methods,
or APIs are correct or up to date in any way.
Stick to manual invoicing until you feel confident about all your shipping settings.

I think that the fear of it becoming "widespread" is unfounded. Personally.
This site is much more reputation based than say ebay. Also this scam is not
new at all, not unknown, etc. We would have seen it widespread already if there
was a weakness in the way this site operates.

There's a lot of posts so excuse me if this has been said, but the obvious
reason they would do this is not to make sales, but to bring down the average
price as there are a lot of reseller, that I am aware of anyways, that price
their items based on the average list price.
