Since it's becoming a daily occurrence, might it be helpful to add a new
forum topic where 0 feedbackers can ask for help contacting a store?
Agreed, but posting there would require to have an above zero positive feedback
score.
A more serious solution would be to ask SylvainLS to write us an FAQ/canned reply
we'd post in this case such as:
* it's a security measure
* you may not have to write to sellers (bla)
* condition of items
* auto checkout instant payment
* check seller profile, read terms
* use PayPal
... ?
I was spitballing last night and I can't remember the process when I signed
up. One idea was what you just wrote, but have it in the sign up process where
you'd have to click "agree" to proceed.
I understand the need, but what are the chances that many of those new users
would see that forum topic and know to post there?
Just for info: quite a few old members who live in English-speaking
countries don’t post their sales messages, that they ingeniously title
“Sales XX%!!!”, in the Sales topic.
The original message was the Suggestions category, so I couldn't leave it
the same when I replied.
Why not? You were discussing the efficiency of the suggestion.
Because if I leave the topic as "Suggestions" then the post will have
the Yes/No vote links, and my reply was not meant for that. I assume you ask
in jest?

No joking at all. The Yes/No links are only on the first post of the thread,
the one that makes the suggestion that people can vote on. People don’t vote
for answers.
(Unless there’s a setting/way of looking at the posts that I don’t know and that
makes the Yes/No seem to apply to ny post… but the vote is still for the suggestion
only.)

I've been on Bricklink for over 20 years, and JUST learned that the
Yes/No voting links don't show up in replies to posts that keep the topic
in the Suggestions group. I had always changed the topic when replying to the
posts in that topic thinking that I was being responsible. Thank you Sylvain
for letting me know. Has it always been like that, or is my mind remembering
something from the early days of Bricklink?

It's always been like as of today, iirc
But now just wait for SylvainLS to say something about the memory of the old
timers

Actually, that may even be counter-productive as your answers may be purged while
suggestions are kept (not sure if they keep the thread or only individual posts).
Thank you Sylvain for letting me know.
Happy to help. I thought you did it to jokingly stress your point
Has it always been like that, or is my mind remembering

Well, I wasn’t there before 2014 (maybe lurking a bit in late 2013), but I don’t
think that ever changed.
First posts are special. Those in the catalogue topics are also special, ditto
Sales posts (that can show on the front page), all special in their own way but
still special. So I’d say it has always been this way.
