I have Instant checkout enabled but I can't figure out how to prevent buyers
from using it when purchasing Sets.
I have a note in all-caps next to the option for instant checkout that it's
NOT FOR SETS. It continues to say that it's only for parts and figures. I
further explain in the note that IC orders will ship in a padded envelope. Of
course, buyers don't want sets shipping that way.
Alas, buyers are with greater frequency ignoring this and ordering sets with
IC. They end up prepaying shipping with far less than what it costs to ship the
order. Things get worse when buyers order multiple sets using Instant checkout.
Is there any way for me to limit use of IC to certain item types (parts, figs)?
I see filters for total price, weight, etc. I would like to have the IC option
disabled if the order contains ANY set. This way, I don't have to rely on
buyers reading the blurb next to the IC option at checkout and agreeing to it.

You could set the 'Pkg type' to manual for all sets, but there is no
bulk option to do that, so you would have to do that one by one.
Or set limit sizes in your shipping options, and make sure there is a manual
fallback option.
The lather only has to be done once and you don't have to remember to set
the Pkg type whenever you add a set to your store.

I must be missing something, but I don't see this option anywhere, not when
creating a new listing, not when editing an existing listing. Is there some secret
UI that in not aware of? The Bricklink URL has v2 in it, as in version 2. Am
I using the right version?
Tldr; if you want to exclude sets (or any item) from eligibility for Instant
Checkout (IC) you need to first set a checkbox: My Store-Edit Store-Management
(nav tab at left)-Enable my weight and my packing dimensions on each item for
sale
There is no indication that this option makes exclusion from IC possible. =:-0
Once enabled, you can then see Dimensions fields in the Add Item and Edit Item
forms. **AND** you now get the all-important Pkg Type field. Setting this drop
down field to Manual makes this item ineligible for IC.
Can't believe how long it took me to find this. I didn't find it via
Bricklink forum search. I found it using Google search.
Thanks all,
Ann

Thanks for your help.
I see you have found a solution, but rather than going through store settings,
you can just click on a lot and then use the drop-down on 'Pkg type:'
at the bottom to 'manual only'.

I can see this drop-down only after checking the "Enable my weight and packing
dimensions" store setting.

If I'm reading this correctly... You only have one IC shipping option and
that's for a padded envelope with no dimensional restrictions?
Just add more shipping options. I use IC all the time for multiple GWP sets,
AT-AT, Razorcrest, etc., etc. and it works just fine.
