Not sure where this mishap happened, but part 2958 has a 3D image of 2723.
At some point this must have caused some confusion with a set inventory, because
it looks like myself and several others have uploaded part 2958 in black which
has never been produced.
On brickstore it displayers this 3D image, which I use for order picking, and
I was just alerted to this by a customer who ordered it.

It’s because the IDs played musical chairs: 2745 became 2958 while 2958 became
2723.
But 2958 is still linked to the LDraw file 2723.dat as 3D model while it should
now point to 2745.dat.
(Yes, LDraw has known since 2011 that 2958 was actually 2723 (2958.dat is an
obsoleted copy of 2723.dat), but they don’t know yet that 2745 is actually 2958.)
Am I unclear enough?

I'd like to crucify Catalog people when they instantly (same date) swap 2
items references!
This drove me mad here, stock disappearing or not the same quantity, pictures
crazy, etc.
First time I noticed such a criminal Catalog behavior.
Instead, couldn't they use a third temporary reference for the swap, for
say 1 month or such?
Yep, I messed up when doing that one, and I should have done things differently.
But what is done is done, and I will take my lashings accordingly. We aren't
perfect.

It's just that specific ridiculous event drove us just crazy (at least people
using the BrickLink references for managing their stock/sales/stats/whatever)
Apart this, don't worry Randy, we'll appreciate the huge task you're
all doing here.
THank you!!!

It made you run a bit, that’s good for your health

Oh you! I doubt waffle fans can, but if I ever met you you may better run fast!

I have moved this thread to "Technical Issues" because there is nothing
that can be done by the Catalog Admins.
