I go through a lot of used knock offs and have a good sense of touch/feel, sound
when dropped, color, and mold of imitation brands. I also know that certainly
older 2x2 tiles don't have a logo underneath. I'm really just looking
for that validation that some tiles, especially older, didn't have a logo
underneath.

I think the groove and thickness is a fairly unique trait of lego too. what
do you know to be true?

Hello. I have come across some that ONLY have a number(s). Some are marked pat
pend with LEGO on it. The ones without anything on the bottom I am not sure if
they are LEGO.

From the pic the part looks pretty good authentic to me too; but I checked my
stock, and didn't find any 1x2 tiles without any print underneath - there
are older ones without logo, but they do have some numbers at least. There's
also Pat.pend. ones (though those are without groove), but completely empty is
new to me.
