| When reconstituting a set from boxes of sorted parts, it's handy to work
your way down the set's parts list sorted by category. Unfortunately, the
color comes first. So for instance, having picked a black technic axle and gone
on to other technic parts, I have to come back to the axle box to get a yellow
axle. I'd like to sort so that all colors of axle are together. Or, say,
all the 2x4 plates regardless of color.

Hi
I have been trying to do this for a few years now. Best I can figure is to sort
by Item name. It wont put Technic together but it will put all the axles together.
I have had the issue where it says it is sorted by Item but shows colour sorting
instead. I just load by Item a second time (hit GO) and it seems to work.

Alternatively you can download brickstore and you will have way more options
to sort.
Brickstore uses the bricklink database so the parts lists for sets will be the
same.

I'm guessing you don't use Brickstore? You really should give it a go.
Manipulating stock lists and set inventories is exactly what it was made for.
Downloading a set inventory and then sorting it by category would take about
5sec.

And the ability to import your wanted lists, orders (I find this very handy since
bricklink purges them after 6 months) and much more

| I didn't know about Brickstore -- I'm not a seller, just an occasional
set recoverer.
