Seems to me anyway, that simply restricting zero feedback members the use of
links in the forum, would immediately eliminate most current spam posts and deter
future ones. Haven’t been looking that close at these posts, but from what I’ve
seen, it’s presenting links they have as a common purpose or motivation. Removing
motivation is often a subtle yet effective tack in life.

Could be that it’s not all that simple, technically to implement. I don’t know,
but if doable, why not? Personally don't find the spam posts all that bothersome.
Many do though, and if there's an easy fix to tidy things up a bit...

Would seem to be harsh on new users that may need genuine help. Especially considering
the delays with the help desk just now.

Considered that and why focusing on link restriction only. Don't think new
users need to post links to get the help needed

This.

At my work website (not LEGO-related) we removed the possibility to use HTML
in forms on our website. It reduced the spam by 90%. Text only spam that nevertheless
go through is 99% coming from Russia. I say no more.

We also have installed Securi Firewall on our website (not free!) and it blocks
hundreds attempts per week.

I can't help but feel that Bricklink's security is simply not up to par,
at least not at the level it should be in 2024.

The spam posts tend to get removed really quite fast, at least at the times of
day when I see them (and report them). Links only work if people click on them.
If nobody clicks on them then there is no motivation to post more. Yet still
they post and post.

Yes but no - some/many (?) post link to ask us which part is this or this kind
of question...

Maybe it could be better to only authorize to newbies a dozen of reputed or
pictures sites (using Regex) like lego ideas, rebrickable, flickr or imgur...

When user has got 1 FB then he can post any link without filter.
