Very true, guess I am a see it before I believe it person in this matter particularly.
I have zero knowledge or skill with brick builder programs, thus zero concept
on what it would end up costing via Bricklink.
There are a lot of MOCs of it online. If you're able to find the instructions
and/or part lists for one you like (you might have to ask the creators if they
have these things), you can come back to BL and add the parts to a wanted list,
which will then let you buy everything you need in a pretty easy, convenient
manner. Just know that the higher the piece count, the more you'll be spending
on shipping since you'll probably have to buy from multiple sellers.

The first picture is from GBC Germany.
I don't know where I got the files from for it, but they are a few years
old and the website hasn't been updated in a while.
It's about 20,000ish pieces.
The second picture is a version I did.
It's about 2,860 pieces.
