Yes, this was my experience also. I was able to click on 2 different sets, ignored
the pop-up, and had both in my cart at LEGO.com when I got there.

I just got a message from LEGO telling me my order was confirmed. And then another
that the items were 'Out of Stock'.
Are we going to get one of these every few weeks again like last time??

I got a processing email and now a confirmation, no out of stock email...yet?

The "program" page is showing that the fortress is about half gone, but
others all less than that so it shouldn't be reporting out of stock yet.

The only way the fortress is that far along has to be because folks are going
over their 2 per household limit. There's no way it's filling up that
fast otherwise.

It took weeks to reach halfway on the last BDP… This is an epic fail for BL and
consumers… epic payday for resellers.

That is not true. The last BDP round sold out completely in less than 24 hours.
Things are moving very fast this time too. If you want to get one of these sets,
you need to place the order now.
Memory must be failing me, sorry!
If these are all legit orders then congrats to your marketing team!
We actually boosted our server configuration WAY past what we ever thought we
would need. The site was flying fast yesterday with all that bandwidth.
But the demand for these sets is super high and it looks like they will be mostly
gone by the end of the morning. A good problem to have, but a problem nonetheless.

Why not set up your servers in Azure or AWS with Auto Scaling. It monitors your
applications and automatically adjusts capacity to maintain steady, predictable
performance at the lowest possible cost. You know, say hello to 2024.

He are still waiting to hear how slugger is somehow wrong.
Give it a break dude, Bricklink is now a Lego asset.
The variant decision was made a lot higher than Russell's pay grade. Russell
is the messenger, let's not shoot the messenger.
I can imagine someone above Russell in TLG asking...
...why should we spend money on making the catalog more dense/robust than it
"needs" to be? TLG is primarily a toy manufacturer not a curator of TLG
historical minutia.
...why shouldn't TLG harvest BL seller inventory/sales data to drive TLG
PAB prices and then drive traffic to PAB? TLG makes more than 3% that way. Which
by the way:
...why should TLG be satisfied with 3% commission?
...how can TLG leverage BL to create artificial scarcity without generating too
much public ire?
...why should TLG spend money on BL seller tools? How exactly does that drive
profits or sales to TLG?
...how can TLG make an acceptable/favorable return on their Bricklink investment.

Sadly you are correct.
It’s just disturbing to think of what might happen next.
But my thought is, the information is already there (and most likely was there
before TLG bought bl) so why delete it?
The LEGO Group is a billon dollar company, over charging everything, (it’s still
the best though) they can afford to pay people to work on here.
Worst part is that most of the work is done by users who voluntarily give hours
of their time to the catalog.

If your broke just say it.
I get the distinct feeling that you, and a couple others that post here, seem
to think they know how to run a massive business better than people who actually,
you know, run a massive businesses.
claiming cost of product is too high, and then demands hiring of more labor.
This must be satire.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. The sets are not actually out of stock. It's
just that the pre-orders on LEGO.com seem to automatically trigger the out of
stock default message. It basically says we've got your order, we don't
have your sets, we won't charge you until they ship, etc. etc.
It's just funny because a pre-order is not out of stock it's just not
IN stock yet. Also, for the last round of sets, we got these messages the entire
waiting period. I would've thought they might fix the message for this round.

Yeah, there is a disclaimer about preorders in the email.

Well, the message is fixed: it’s still there
