Hi all,
could I ask your opinions on what the best technic set is, but from an engineering
point of view?
Not bothered whether it's a vehicle, building or whatever, I am trying to
find an interesting build. Doesn't even need to be a modern set.
Many thanks!

Ok,
personally i found the 8109 the most beautiful, the 9397 very lovely.
The 8258 or 8043 Sets were outstanding in terms of complexity in it´s time.
If you need a unique set look at the 8480 or 42158 plus 42112 / 42064.
Icons are the 42030, 42054 and 42043 as well.
I especially loved the 42024 for its concept and 42008 + 42053.
Just have a look what´s appealing to you, and watch/read a review of it.

I enjoyed 9395 as one of the first technic sets I built since the 90s. The bucket
wheel excavator 42055 also has a bit of everything and was popular as it was
quite cheap at the time.
However, if you want something interesting (and you already have lots of parts),
I'd go for either Sariel's book "the unofficial lego technic guide",
or one called "simple machines" by Isogawa.

In my opinion it is the Ait Tech Claw Rig - my first Technic set - and the last
I will ever sell....
If you replace the 2 white brick build tanks between the axles with two white
pneumatic air tanks and integrate them to the pneumatic system of the model -
you will get a much better working crane
