I have sent and received several packages from outside the US. I don't
know if its a new thing, but when I went to ship an order today, Insurance was
not available. I then learned that you can not insure orders over $100. That
does not make since to me, if anything, those are the orders you would want insurance.
I don't want it to happen, but I would be a lot better off having a $10 order
being lost, but having a $400 order that you can not get insured for loss or
damage.
Guess my question is, how is everyone else handling this. If I ship a $300
order to Japan and something goes wrong, PayPal is going to refund the buyer
and I would be out $300 bucks, right??

Insurance does not cover everything that could go wrong, generally only damaged/destroyed
in transit, and then only if you can prove you packaged it according to best
practices.
But it does cover Loss and Damage, two of the things im most concerned about.
Especially the lost package.

You should be able to buy supplemental insurance through e.g. Pirate Ship. I
don't know about other commercial postage resellers.
