Did LEGO just increase its sales prices by some 50%? I looked on the website
and I almost fell out of my chair.....

Is it possible you wound up on a different country's site - like Canada's?

Highly unlikely.
Rivendell for $800
Liebherr Crawler Crane for $1050
Titanic for $1000
And that's before sales tax!
Is anyone else seeing this?

I just looked on lego.com and see 499.99 for Rivendell. But if I go to the Australian
site I see 799.99 for Rivendell
Checking some other prices I think you're on the Australian site - look for
"en-au" in the URL

Likely you followed a link there from an ad or something as it will always send
you to your most recent one it seems as every now and then I get sent to the
USA site as I sometimes click links that bring me there then the next time I
always get sent to the USA site

I have no recollection of following a link to get there.
I usually type "shop" into the address bar and Google Chrome fills in
the rest to get to LEGO's website. Shock and horror, today it sent me to
Australia.

Maybe a fake lego site?
The US version of the webpage has Rivendell for $500 US.
