I've just had a look at the price increases, it's hitting the 'large
letter', which most of us use. RM certainly trying to price themselves out
of business. Maybe it's time to look at other couriers!

Further class letters have been similar, going from 95p in March to £1.25 in
October.
I reckon they are trying to kill off most letter post, except for 2nd class standard
letter which they will deal with slowly and deliver a couple of times a week.
Then concentrate on parcels.

On Bricklink its not so bad as you can adjust and pass on the shipping costs
accordingly however on sites like ebay those sellers who want to keep their "Top
Rated seller" badge will continue to be expected to ship for free using 1st
class post! I therefore think we will start to see many of those £3-5 bargain
items (Not just Lego) dwindle away over the coming months as ebay sellers are
forced to put their prices up!
To keep everything in-line with ebay I've always just shipped all my Bricklink
orders by 1st class post too however I think I might have to have a re-think
and start shipping them by 2nd class instead. Sadly for the buyer they will still
need to pay the same shipping charge whilst getting a lesser service but I expect
many will prefer this over a price increase
