| Hi all. Just curious about this DUPLO 2 x 4 brick I found. Doesn't seem very
old, and I'm afraid I don't know its exact color. Inside the studs the
stamp is "DUPLO" instead of "LEGO." I'm wondering what its
origins are. I apologize for the lousy pictures. Any ideas? Thanks!

| You’ll find many of most colours with either DUPLO or LEGO, nothing unusual.
Just as an example : A red brick can have DUPLO or LEGO.

Could it be the reason?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lego_Duplo
In particular "Launch and release", where we can see many name changes
for the Duplo "format" since its creation.
Just see the last 2 changes, according to Wikipedia:
The name Duplo was dropped again in favour of Explore in 2002. The new brand
name was used to emphasise the relationship between the bricks and the child's
learning. Explore introduced four different ways of exploring play: explore being
me; explore together; explore imagination and explore logic. In the 2004 spring
catalog, there was a reminder that Duplo was now called Explore, but that fall
the well-known Duplo name was back yet again with a new rabbit logo designed
to match the new elephant logo for the Lego Quatro range.
So, I guess they built molds with LEGO or DUPLO depending decisions and eras,
but as they won't garbage a 100K$ (?) mold for this, at some periods they
may have used both in the same factories

| I agree with Stuart. Once I did an inventory of a Duplo set, and I found that
even the same Duplo brick in the same color in the set could have either "DUPLO"
or "LEGO" inside the studs. I have not, however, seen a Duplo piece
with both words. Each individual piece has the same word in all of its studs.
