I'm new to selling on BrickLink. I was processing two orders last week and
got the labels mixed up. Now two people have the other persons mining!! How do
you handle this type of issue? I know it's my fault so I'm going to be
out some money, but just don't know how to handle it. Would it be ridiculous
to ask both people to ship the items to each other?!

Thanks for the wisdom!

You can certainly ask if they will forward the packages to the proper recipient,
but they are not under any obligation. You can purchase the postage label online
and send them the pdf label to print and attach.

I assume you don't have replacements to send out instead?

Good luck! I have learned only to have one order on my desk at a time. Counted,
photographed, packed up, sealed, and label attached all in one go.

Thanks Jen! I've learned my lesson for sure. I've messaged both customers
and I hope we can figure something out. Both minifigs fetched a hefty price so
I hope I can get it resolved without losing my shorts!

There is the downside that if one ships and the other doesn't then you need
to refund for the missing order. If they are valuable, best to get them to ship
back to you at your expense.

The important thing is to learn from it. Finish packaging and addressing an order
before starting on the next one.

Definitely thought about that! What's really stupid is that I made note of
what was in the boxes but then got the labels mixed up. And I KNOW I double checked!!
Oh well. I have certainly learned my lesson and will do one at a time from now
on!

I wouldn't do that - I would ask them both to send the items back to you
and give each of them a label to do that. Then send to the correct person.

Are there orders same value or a significantly different value?

I would fear if the one with a higher value order refused to return it
Meaning you would have to refund the one with a lower value order

Don't feel too bad about it. You aren't the first to have done it and
you won't be the last. In order to avoid that specific issue we write the
first 3-5 letters of the last name on the inside of the shipping envelope's
flap in permanent marker. That way before we seal it we verify that the correct
label has been put on the front. Depending on your label provider you should
be able to purchase labels and email them to your buyers. Most don't mind
printing the label and mailing out the package as long as they don't have
to pay for the shipping cost.
