Hello! I am hoping to get some advice/suggestions. I currently only ship within
the US but am thinking about expanding that to Canada. I'm not at all familiar
with international shipping but am thinking (I might be wrong) that shipping
to Canada might not be too complicated. I use ShipStation for shipping labels
and from what I have read they also support international shipping. My questions
are:
*Are there import or customs fees I need to be concerned with?
*Can I set it up so all orders that come from Canadian customers be only manual
invoice for now (so that I can be sure to charge the correct amount while I learn
this)?
*Any other tips/advice for Canadian shipping methods?
I apologize if this info is already on the forum somewhere, I tried doing some
research online about this and just find a lot of conflicting info so I figured
I would ask the experts here!

as the seller you don't need to be concerned but buyers will frequently get
hit with import costs for orders as low as $20 and the import fee includes a
flat rate $9.95 processing fee but whether a package is hit with import costs
or not is basically chance as some people almost never get it meanwhile other
will get it almost everytime.

yup just set the shipping option to manual

it often costs $15-$20 on shipping so in general candians do avoid shopping from
stores in the USA as shipping is one of the most expensive plus shipments USA
seem to get hit with import costs more then an shipments from say europe so in
general there wont be a huge increase in orders but there will still be some
so don't get discouraged if you don't get many orders from canada

Thank you Nubs_ for your reply. At $15+ shipping I don't blame them from
steering away from US Sellers, that is crazy high shipping.
As far as Manual Invoicing goes, will the only option they see available to them
be Manual? I was looking at it earlier and was worried that they might see both
options (Instant for Domestic orders) or Manual and just choose Instant since
it's easier (and cheaper since it's Domestic shipping prices).
as long as you only have Canada selected in the manual shipping option and it
isn't in any instant checkout options they would only see the manual option
