This character is not Yoda, but instead a juvenile member of the same species as Yoda. The term 'Baby Yoda' is a
popular term among fans and the media. It was added to the item's title merely to facilitate searches.
Wait, isn't that the whole point of product descriptions in item names?
Should we not put on a note on every item in which terms are used to facilitate
searches then? LOL

The point is this is not Yoda, yet an early, popular name for the character was
added to the official name to aid searches even though this is now known to be
incorrect. Hence a note to stop people complaining that this is not Yoda.

+1 it makes a lot of sense. It’s like a second name for him and the note is there
for people who haven’t heard of it before so they don’t submit change requests
or get confused

I think the name is a great example of our catalog being responsive to everyday
users who need the search term. I think the note is there to forestall corrections
from those who may feel that the catalog should be precise to the exclusion of
all else. Why is it needed? Maybe because the SW minifig community is particularly
particular.
I guess what makes me laugh is that it's a combative statement, like we are
expecting people to complain.
And it is not a combative statement. It is merely a statement of fact placed
there so that we do not get inundated with requests to remove the term from the
title.

It's just that the statement is stating the obvious just to be obvious. Like,
i'm going to put a period at the end of this sentence so you know it's
finished. Or, if the additional notes said, " We put the item number here
so you could search for it".

Yep, totally agree. However, the part that's funny (it's not really that
funny anymore since having to explain it over and over) is to say "Baby Yoda...
was added to the item's title merely to facilitate searches". OF COURSE
IT WAS - WHAT OTHER PURPOSE WOULD THERE BE?
Everything included in an item's title is there to facilitate searches, otherwise,
no one would find anything (unless they added tags, just saying)
I suppose they could have added it there because they thought the arrangement
of the letters looked pleasing to the eye... but I doubt it.

I mean the title literally says "Baby Yoda Note Self Explanatory?" which
leads me to believe you are talking about how the note for baby yoda is self-explanatory
and then said "Should we not put on a note on every item in which terms are
used to facilitate
searches then? LOL" which once again let me to believe you were talking about
it being weird that it has a note
but after reading it a few more times it may more so makes it seem like you were
referring to only the last part of the note not the fact that the note itself
was there but reading it a few times it could be understood either way

The explanation is there because the name Baby Yoda is now known to be wrong
and has been added and kept not because that is his name but as an aid for people
that incorrectly use that term. If the explanation is not there, they will get
complaints / change requests saying the name is wrong and should be removed.
Hence the disclaimer, to put off those catalogue change requests.

Right, the first part of the explaination addresses that. The last sentence is

Not really, no. It is explaining that it was added to aid searches with the implication
being that it is not there because the cataloguing crew believe that it is the
official name, as they know it isn't.

The fact that you are reading any kind of humor into the whole situation is in
itself quite humorous.
In any case, I have altered the note and made it less humorous for all involved.

He is NOT named Baby Yoda though. He was mistakenly referred to as that originally
and hence the incorrect name has stuck for some and keeping it in the name helps
those buyers that use the name. It could be removed now as the real name is known
but that would lead to those people that still call him Baby Yoda not being able
to find him. Hence the additional note explaining why the incorrect name is kept
in the minifigure entry.
