I don understand why we cannot at least have a fee free payment of selling fees.
Paypal charges almost 5% just to hand over the payment in a risk less trade,
at least from me i Norway. Please provide an other option.

But does another, cheaper option exist?

All the international payment providers have fees.  And these fees are similar
(or higher) than PayPal’s… and the services aren’t all available everywhere (a
nightmare to manage).

International bank transfer?  Fees too.  And hefty ones at that.

We’re both lucky to be in countries where bank transfers are very cheap (and
often free) and to be in SEPA where international bank transfers in Euro have
to cost the same as domestic ones.  That’s clearly not the case elsewhere in
the world.

BTW, sending bills by postal services is generally not allowed.  Anyway, the
stamps on the envelope could be considered a fee too

So, yeah, there’s a fee to pay your BL fees through PayPal (or, IIRC, Stripe).

So decide how much you want for a particular item then multiply that by 1.05
and set that as your price. That way you cover your paypal fees when you sell.
Of course there are also bricklink fees too, so you could multiply by 1.08 instead.

Remember buyers will normally look at the overall cost, so if you price low and
then add on loads of fees at checkout then you are likely to get marked as least
favourite when they dump the cart in your store.

option #1: A Yard Sale

... because running this website is free..
licensing, trademarks, employees, cyber-security, advertising, data storage,
electricity bill, internet servers,
all of that is free, so why can't we just sell on here for free...?

i agree

I meant when paying fees to bricklink for selling. Sorry for being unclear. When
we buy in / pay on websites we can usually pay with a card with only visa fee
1,75%
Paypal/stripe is charging unnecessarily high fees for exhanging currency and
add also transaction fee. It hurts more for us using other currencies than USD,
i guess.

anyone want to jump into the "hey, let's start being a payment processor!"
arena...?
just start accepting personal checks from buyers & western union money orders.
.it's fun getting those processed on your own.
i'm sure that is also all free to do as well.
5% so someone from a village in Mozambique can buy a lego set from someone in
Utah & it gets done in 2.3 seconds sounds fair enough to me.

if fees are what is hurting your business plan, buy cheaper or sell higher. those
fees should already be worked into your pricing.

not sure Bricklink has any say in Paypal currency conversion rates.

but godd luck in your ventures...

Maybe that was funny.
I have this motto that it is not nice that the biggies grab so much from us smallies.
They end up with more power than they can handle and it ends up being very unhealthy
for freedom in the other end. A little philosophy for you there.

Again my post was about paying the selling fee to Bricklink. It was NOT about
payment fee between buyers/sellers. Bricklink could have had a VISA card payment
solution where Paypal not deciding the awful currency exchange rate.

US citizens do not have this "problem", i suppose, that do all trade
in one currency

but godd luck in your ventures...

you are asking Brinklink to become the Payment Processor in this situation allowing
currency conversions in order to pay your seller fees for free.

correct?

that entire process takes .. money.

a process PayPal likely has a good lockdown on with likely the best rates available
for the task. considering Global requirements.

just as you found it funny the mere suggestion that you, yourself process payments
on your own time for free, because you would likely have to charge for that service....

jus' sayin'

Can you get a bank card or credit card that does not charge you a fee for foreign
transactions? I have one, and charge my bl fees to it in USD. Alternatively take
some payments in USD then use that to pay your fees.

1) Part of your problem is the "exotic" currency NOK; in EUR the conversion
would cost you less. Please ask your Gov?

2) Say BrickLink could invest 1 million dollar to develop this.
What for? To make you pay 1.03 instead of 1.05?
What would be their benefit?
None - so, forget it.

Increase your prices of 1% and you've paid all your unexpected costs - move
on?

You could start accepting USD as a currency. You can pay your Bricklink fees
with the USD amount on your Paypal account if customers choose to pay in USD.

Funny that you mention that. I used to have NOK, EUR and USD as currency before.
Though, I dropped USD and EUR couple of years back as paypal used to manipulate
the invoiced currency to one of the other so the could hoover off the amount
on the currency exchange.
If someone bought in EUR it was invoiced in EUR but paypal force converted to
USD and vice versa.
