Having a problem right now, delivered package and they can't find it, which
is whatever,
BUT
I highly, highly suspect I'm talking to a child. I've reported the member
(its a new account, zero feedback) and blocked them already. They are moderately
hostile, so perhaps I'll even get a neg for this, but again, it is what it
is I guess.
But what I'm wondering is when you report for age how on earth bricklink
substantiates this? I mean, there's no way to prove it right?
Do you just have to get a few reports of the same thing and then if it walks
and quacks like a duck its a duck?
Just curious is anyone knows or your experiences
Also Hi all, its been a while, focusing on other projects.
in theory, bricklink could ask the registered user for proof of their age. Not
sure if that violates any country's laws, but it would settle the matter.
It could still be a child operating a parent's account of course

Well, if bartenders, bouncers, or supermarket’s clerks can do it.
The trend is rather the opposite: to force websites to really check their visitors’
ages.

I’d think that it’s not because mummy has a car and a driving licence that her
14-year-old can drive the car

It could be a child or an immature adult, I have seen more and more hostility
lately now that people are getting back out. Sadly, I feel we need to learn
how to treat one another again.

My only experience with a minor, they admitted it in a Message to me through
BL, so I had self admitted proof, that was enough for Bricklink to remove the
account.

From a legal standpoint, all BrickLink could do is hire a lawyer to investigate
people's age. They might ask the police or law enforcement in the member's
country of residence, but I don't know if they'll get a response. Lawyers
identify people and can verify someone's age.
As to whether it represents their mental age, that's a rather difficult question.
It depends on how they were brought up, but some people never truly grow up,
no matter their age.
Attitude is something one grows up with. If a member seems to have a bad attitude,
don't try to aggravate them. That will get you nowhere fast. Always remain
calm in response to any situation, and calmly write regarding the issue at hand,
without bias.
I try to remain objective, sometimes even I don't get a response properly
written.
Just keep replying to the issue at hand, and ignore anything that may seem like
hostility. A lot of people don't understand what is going on, and just tend
to ragequit. They then ignore whoever they're responding to. The only to
prevent that is to not respond, excepting regarding the issue.

If in doubt, we ask for proof of age, just like we do with New Seller Verification.
Please report any cases where you have reasonable evidence the user is underage.
I don't have anything other than "talks like a middle schooler" and
my gut, so I'm sure my report have anything firm. But it's good to know
what usually happens
I've had a couple underage buyers that got snippy with me via email. (You
could definitely tell by their language that they were underage.) I calmly explained
that I'm not Amazon, my packages don't arrive within 24 hours and they
could use the tracking number to follow the package and oh, by the way, did you
know that you must be 18 purchase from this site? Both times I had a response
from the parent within a day or so apologizing for their kid's poor manners.
I don't think it even occurred to me to block them from my store.

I'm dying because I said the exact same thing about "this aint amazon"
and to please be patient. They were upset that it took 5 days from order to delivery.
Horrible grammar, misspelled words, nothing captialized, lots of childish abbreviations.
I deal with teens and middle schoolers on a regular basis and this person "spoke"
exactly the same lingo

Maybe Nubs in disguise?
And all those who reply with
Nubs is actually playing 4D chess by making all the underage users feel comfortable
