What can I do in setting so that my shopping carts include THE ITEM NUMBER in
the list. I have tried several options, but I can never see the item number on
my shopping cart.

Simple¹ solution: export the cart as a wanted list, and open the WL in another
tab, and delete the WL and repeat each time you add an item / change your cart.
