As a former US Air Force enlisted member, I find this statement disingenuous.
It is a promo for your store. You are hoping to drive people to you store for
sales.
Promotion: (noun): Advertising; publicity.
Cory, I appreciate that you are doing this but saying it is not a promo when
it is, is not being straight forward with us and IMO belittles the original purpose
of Memorial Day.

It saddens me that you feel that way, my friend.
Why be sad, they are my feelings?
Nevertheless, we are not motivated to promote in the manner you suggest. Buy,
don't buy, I couldn't care less. We simply would like to do something
more for those named in the post and this is the easiest way to do it.
Maybe you should not look for the easiest way. I would suggest volunteering
to a veterans organization. Write letters to your congress critters imploring
them to fix the VA hospital system. Implore the governments to stop the constant
wars, in our name, so we don't have to have memorial day for any MORE
veterans.
Yes, I have emotional investment for those that have lost their lives which I'll
never share here. But place an order and let us (my daughter and I) express that
emotional investment in full to you
I, too, obviously, have an emotional investment in anything related to veterans
and their families. It should not be a time of "Memorial day sales!"
but, rather, a time of silent reflection on what was given earnestly. They fought
for us and when they get back home, if they get back, they often do not get what
was promised to them, or have to once again fight the bureaucracy for what they
deserve. Let's try to ensure this does not happen anymore.
Though Memorial Day was created separate from Veterans Day to specifically honor
those that have fallen while serving, we nonetheless (my daughter and I) would
like to show our gratitude to those on BrickLink that currently or have served
the country in that capacity.
Some members are known as such like Mr Patterson and a few others of the forum.
However there are so many that are not known as such, but from whom we’ve had
the honor over the years of receiving patronage.
Any active or former member of the US Armed Forces, now through Memorial Day
on Monday, we’ll receive tribute from ConstrucToys in the form of a small gift
added to your order.
Please comment in “Note to Seller” when placing an order to receive the gift.
Not a promo, simply a show of gratitude.

Thank you. I do not view it as advertising, you do that in a different way.
This is something special you said.

Not sure why everyone is criticizing that this is an advertisement. I stand with
you honoring not just the U.S. forces, but other armed forces as well. All armed
force personnel that has died fighting for either their country, or their ideology.
Whatever they have fought for, we must always remember them and what they fought
for whether we stand with what that was or not.
Thank you, popsicle!
Happy Memorial Day!

Very well said.
I also feel for the brave Ukrainians that are fighting for their freedom. This
is their "greatest generation." I have thoughts that American may never
see another "greatest generation" even if it is needed.
