I want to reopen my store and I know there have been changes since I last sold
a few years ago.

I believe I set up the instant checkout correctly and linked with paypal.

I am only shipping domestic US - so I need to set up the shipping charges since
check out is now automatic

I believe I set up the first class shipping correctly. I selected automated
invoicing, courier api and usps first class retail rate chart.

I am not sure how to set up shipping for priority mail. Recommendations?

I also removed outdated information in my terms. It's pretty straightforward,
so let me know if anything important is missing.

Thank you.

Welcome back!

Strictly speaking, neither onsite payment nor instant checkout are required.
Many buyers now are required to pay onsite in order for sales tax to be collected,
but you can still issue invoices as in the past.

I don't recommend using the Courier API; it is not very reliable. I recommend
creating your own shipping methods. You can create separate shipping methods
for different classes of mail or you can combine them into one shipping method.

At the time of writing, I see both First Class and Priority Mail in your store
terms, but your store is closed so I can't test if it's working.

Hope that helps.

I previously had flat rate $4 for first class; it worked pretty well at the time.
I went on USPS site and probably should raise that to $5 or $6 if I want to
keep a flat rate.

I could do the same for priority mail too. Not sure what would be reasonable
or if I should just do manual invoicing as I did before.

First Class now starts at $3.59. Priority Mail starts at $7.00.

Welcome back!

You will want to add in your own pricing for shipping. Let me give you an example.

Hypothetical: You live in Virgnia. Shipping to the surrounding states Maryland,
DC., North Carolina, & West Virginia will be the cheapest costs because they
are in the same zone as you. BUT the same package that costs $5.00 to ship to
those states may cost $7.00 to ship to California. So, if it is a $10.00 order,
minus your costs, and you have to shell out $2.00 because the shipping the buyer
paid was not enough to cover the shipping costs, now you've made $8.00 minus
your costs.

1) Set up an account at either PirateShip or Ship Station because these companies
will charge commercial shipping prices which will lower shipping for your customers
as opposed to retail at USPS. Also, first class mail at USPS is only up to 13
oz. BUT at these companies you can ship first class up to 15.15 oz.

2) Do some research at which ever company you choose by putting in weights and
zip codes to different locations in the US to give you a better idea of shipping
costs.

3) IF you ship priority mail, don't use flat rate boxes or flat rate pricing.
Overall flat rate is more expensive than priority mail. You can get free priority
boxes shipped right to your home by ordering them on the USPS website.

I hope this helps.

You can ship first class up to 15.99 oz commercially, over that weight and you
need to choose either Parcel select or Priority.

You need to link to Paypal for Onsite payments. Onsite payments are required
for BrickLink to collect sales taxes. You cannot accept payments from these states
off site anymore.

Instant Checkout is a whole different thing.

It's only automatic if you turn it on.

Do not trust any shipping methods you found shared on BrickLink. They are not
maintained for current prices or updated in any way. There is no API checking
prices and there is NO link to zip codes for location-based pricing.

You will need to pick a rate you feel comfortable with shipping nationwide and
create the rate table yourself!

I am not sure how to set up shipping for priority mail. Recommendations?

Your only options are to set up a rate table with an average for shipping nationwide.
(Varies greatly for Priority mail.) Or set up price bands where you are willing
to cover any differences in postage once they've spent a certain amount.

I also removed outdated information in my terms. It's pretty straightforward,

This does not exist here: "USPS are based on weight and destination zip code."
unless you are manually invoicing.

Be sure to set up at least one manual invoice method to catch any orders that
fail Instant Checkout parameters.

Good luck,
~Jen
