Petrochemical plants can be beautiful, when you climb up high in one of their
towers in the blue hour, just before sunrise, and just look at all the lights,
the magnificently complex maze of gleaming tubes and all the installations around
you.
I could really enjoy myself with a camera there, if only that wasn't such
an explosion hazard....

know you've a small following here in the forum, so this is just how I've
understood you over the years. Which includes the fact that what you're cynically
trying to express here, is not "nature" at all. As you well know.

Read a little more into reality. The point was that our country should not look
like the picture I posted. You are a little testy if cannot see that, perhaps.
I have seen a pattern in some of your posts that if someone takes a different
view from yours you do react a bit poorly. This is all in good fun and I seldom
post a serious post. Remind yourself of what sarcasm is. Perhaps that "age"
gives me a bit more perspective on how to view life and what I see around me.
I don't care about a following at all, do you? I just try and make people
smile, it if it is just for a fleeting moment.

Yeah sure, we can always find plenty to despair over, as the fragile creatures
we are. But let’s occasionally look-up and appreciate just how good we have it
as a species living within the truly paradisal environments of our planet. Strangely
enough, I got the same sense of reverence when hiking the desert environments
of Utah too. It's not just one type of beauty, but something beyond that.
We hit up a new trail two weeks ago, my daughter and I. It’s just over an hour
from our place into the Cascades. It’s written-up as a little known, very difficult
climb with spectacular forest meadows and glens with breathtaking vistas. It
certainly was all of that. Been dreaming of the experience since first taking
the hike, so we decided to relive it last week, despite the level of difficulty.
Just the 2 km walk up the abandoned mine road leading up the mountain to the
trailhead, was very tranquil. Lots of bird song this time of year too.
Here are some crappy pics (don't do it justice) taken from my old phone,
from the road leading to the trailhead itself. My daughter with her newer camera,
took pics from the mountain trail itself. I’ll try and post them at some point
for you all to enjoy, if I can.
