But only turned on and used in the area needed, i.e. sorting and order-pulling
where the ability to distinguish color and condition is more crucial. Longterm
exposure is not advisable as strong UV reacts with oxygen in the air, in a manner
that degrades ABS over extended periods of time. So not used in storage areas

Thanks for sharing this! The area where I sort gets great light first thing in
the morning, which is when I have to head work, so I have to sort in the evening.
Overhead light wasn’t doing the trick, so I gathered every lamp in my house to
surround my space, but still can’t really distinguish color accurately (especially
blues for some reason). When you say artificial daylight spectrum, is it a specific
lamp or lightbulb? Is it similar to a plant grow-light?

| I know. I don't think you can have UV without an IR.
Nubs do good with LED...
I find that Sunlight at 45° is best?
The smallest variation at elevation is almost immense...
These are the same picture atmost 2° elevation apart - the reflection is the
only differential - the thickness of their smiles is based on mood only. Probably
a print number too, but I don't know anything about that.

The working UV light is not turned on in the pic. The light seen as coming from
the right, is normal lighting coming from further into the room

and as you can see, the results are amazing. The larger of the 2 spikey plants
(now in the same pot as the other) was grown under artificial daylight whilst
the smaller one just had the old tube light.

| The fluorescent spectrum contains light wavelengths produced from the phosphor
coating, that a device called a spectrometer measures and displays as a graph.
Light in a typical fluorescent spectrum spikes strongly with blue, a little green
and red wavelengths, with several variations based on the type of bulb.
It is a very good, yet antiquated/expensive light.

Very good and I would say observant, were it not for a couple of points
The "2 spikey plants" are one plant with a single root bulb. What one
sprout reaps, both are affected. Beyond that, it's never gotten artificial
daylight, strangely enough doesn't need it.
"the same pot as the other" Very astute... though it's not. It's
one of three such pots in our home.
Finally, I don't know the meaning of "old tube light" in this context,
so I'll just take that as a bit of over-my-head wit and smile

Yes it was wit but flawed. We have a similar plants too, it had 3 stems from
one root but after many years all stems had reached the ceiling and it had nowhere
left to grow so I sawed each stem off at different heights last November and
it looked dead until a few weeks ago when some new shoots appeared from near
the top of each stem. I'm told each stem should make 3 new stems from just
below the cut..... it looks like it will be a while before this information is
of any use for yours
