On the 17th I asked the store when my order would ship. They replied that same
day that it would go out later that day.
Today, the 20th, my order still has not shipped although a shipping label was
created on the 19th.
I don't appreciate being lied too. So...
Do I wait to see if they will actually ship my order today?
Do I contact the store again?
Would it be too premature to file an NSS and maybe get the store owner off their
proverbial butt?
I would appreciate your opinions.
Cass T
Well, really lying is unacceptable, but if a shipping label was created yesterday
it will probably ship in a day or two, I would just be patient, it is bad customer
service on his part but you don’t know what is going on in his life, maybe he
is just a bad seller, or maybe something happened. Nobody knows but him. As a
seller I have tried to be understanding and the opposite of a lying seller, but
sometimes stuff happens, so if it doesn’t ship out by Wednesday I would get in
contact, but that’s just my two cents.

Cass T
I wouldn't file a NSS if I were you. You'd be just begging for bad feedback.
Take a breath, step back. Yes, they are shipping slowly. Yes, they promised to
ship a certain day and didn't. Consider the possibility that they are just
normal people who just failed to live up to expectations and didn't follow
through. This is much more likely than deliberate lying. If they printed the
label yesterday, then the order can't really be shipped til today anyway.
Also, it's a holiday for many people. Wait until Tuesday, check the tracking
and enjoy your Lego when it finally arrives.

Cass T
Too early for NSS in my view. Wait and see if you get the order within the next
week. If you do and are still not happy, then least favourite the store and don't
buy from them again. Leave non-positive feedback if you feel it is warranted
but expect to get similar in return for being pushy.
They may have fully intended to post them then had an issue out of their control.
I can understand saying it is lying if they said they had already posted it when
they hadn't rather than saying they will post it later and then didn't
manage to do so.
The 17th was a Friday, so if something happened to unexpectedly go wrong, then
the next possible business day to ship wouldn't be until tomorrow (yes, Saturday
could've worked but no everyone works on Saturday). So I wouldn't get
too hasty, though they should have notified you of any delay. This is why when
we get asked when an order will be shipped, we respond with "it should
ship by x date", not "it will". Because inevitably, whenever I say
it will, something happens and it doesn't get shipped until the next day.

You are way too early to worry about your order. Selling is difficult at best
and other things might have intervened. Holiday, Saturday, and even ebay does
not count them as shipping days. Patience is a virtue and what will happen to
you if you get an order in 4 days instead of 3 days? After all, these are toys
and the world does not revolve around kids toys.

Unless your business is the selling of said kid's toys and the income from
said toys is needed to pay the bills. It has been 8 days now not 3 or 4 and still
my order has not shipped. So honestly, when is it too long?
On top of this order, I have an order from the UK that shipped on the 10th of
January that still has not arrived and I am not even sure it has left the Royal
Mail shipping center yet.
So, John, you may have a very laid-back perspective of kid's toys, but my
life depends on them, and I think TLG would agree that kid's toys are kind
of important.
Here's your answer. Relay what you wrote here to the seller, that you're
running a business and you need an ETA or to have the order cancelled and refunded.
For me, 8 days without an explanation is too long, even if I was a casual buyer.

ask them for an update on the status of the package.

Drop shipping? I don't know what that means.
A drop shipper is a seller who places an order with a third party after getting
an order. the third party ships to the buyer. Lots of companies do this. You
think you are buying directly from them, but you're not.

I will play devil's advocate and say that a lot of the time, the Post Office
won't start moving stuff until the next business day; so being Monday was
a holiday, it could've been dropped off yesterday and scanned in today
There have been plenty of times where I've dropped off packages on a Friday
or Saturday without any update scans, then suddenly it'll start moving on
Tuesday, or not even show any updates until it goes out for delivery, similar
to what the seller in question had mentioned
Maybe the seller had the intention to send it out on Friday (the 17th,) but couldn't
make it to the PO in time; even then, it's not that they intentionally lied
to you, it's just how things are sometimes; I also understand the frustration,
but I do not think it's as big of an issue as it was made out to be, especially
since it was over a 3-day weekend and it wouldn't have started moving until
yesterday or today anyways
Just want to pint out that there's been a change in USPS scanning practices
in the last few months. As a money-saving measure, sometimes the first scan of
a package isn't until the next distribution center. So for example if I mailed
something from NJ to IL the scan won't show any progress until the package
is in IL.
I've noticed this more with packages over a pound vs first class mail. It
doesn't happen all the time and it's not specific to a certain post office
(I mail packages from 3 different post offices) or to time of year so i don't
know why it happens but this is now happening more often.
Lastly, if your seller uses Pirateship there is a bug where the USPS scanning
says the tracking number is invalid until the label is scanned a second time.

As a seller I have run into a situation several times where USPS does not show
the current tracking data online ( "Tracking data unavailable" ). But
when I go to the post office to check the status they have a detailed schedule
of where it is that they can print out. Just consider that whenever something
like that happens - sometimes the online site tracking isn't synced up with
it's actual location. I don't know if your seller is lying or not, but
there are situations where they have no control. Very seldom, but possible.
