| I try not to complain... often.
would you consider this a good example of a used or abused piece?
In other words, would you be happy/upset/not concerned about it after ordering
it as used with no description?

Yes, I would list this as scratched. However, I expect this as typical Used quality
if I received it from another seller. Unless the scratches are deep enough to
feel, I wouldn't complain. Also, Black shows scratches way more than other
colors.

+1 - exactly how I feel about it. I'd personally list it with remarks, but
I also know that used black tile easily gets surface scuffing like that and I
wouldn't be surprised to receive a used black tile in that condition. Especially
if it happened to be priced on the lower end of the 6mth average/available in
Canada pricing. I can understand being disappointed receiving a scuffed printed
tile without description though.
If the actual printing was scuffed/partly removed though (which it doesn't
appear to be - all looks intact), I personally feel that would be a bigger issue
and should 100% always be identified in the comments and I'd reach out to
the seller about it.

I would be upset. Description should have read heavy wear, play wear, especially
since I am sure the seller only had 1 or a few listed, not like a common brick
where they could have 100's listed.

I guess it also depends on the price. If price is way below 6 month average then
I would expect low quality. If it was priced to average or higher than I would
be unhappy with the one you showed.

The printing does looks good and black tiles/bricks are the worst in that they
show every imperfection. I would have listed it as used, surface scratches, printing
intact.

| I paid 32% below the 6 month average, so it sounds to me like I should have expected
what I received.

Some small scratches to the surface but no damage to the print.
With no description, I think I'd be fine with it as used. Used LEGO gets
some scratches that are often more visible on black than other parts, especially
if it has been in a bucket with other parts. If I wanted one that looks like
new, I'd have bought new.

It is used with reasonable play wear. Used parts often come from sales by families
when children no longer play with Lego. The BL definition of used includes adult
owned parts that were assembled once and stored that are shiny and look new.
But reality is it that many used parts are not perfect in that they are not seriously
faded, chewed or scratched. The seller must make a judgement call. Also remember
that adding a detailed description takes time which is not really feasible on
a 10cent part.
Buyers looking for a specific quality should consider mentioning that.
