I now have a bag of 252 Blacktron sp001 minifigs which do not have their tanks
but do have the helmet, visor, correct head, torso, hands and legs. Unfortunately,
their heads and hips have been glued so that I can't take the head off nor
turn the head. I also cannot take the leg/hips off.
Tried just simple warm water soaking but that did not work.
I do not know what kind of glue. I am guessing super-glue.
I did break one while trying really hard to get the hip/legs off. So I can see
where it was glued and that the body has the right torso.
Any brilliant thoughts on what to do with them or how to tackle the mysterious
glue?
Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

my might have been for a keychain? I had a glued figure that was glued by LEGO
and had no success ungluing it sadly.

Freezing glue (in a freezer for a few hours) can make it brittle. Boiling set
glue in hot water can sometimes dissolve it too. Wasting another figure or two
in an attempt to remove body parts is probably worthwhile. Let them take one
for the team and the greater good.

If it is superglue then acetone, or as it is more commonly known to women, nail
polish remover, should have loosened the glue bonds. I'm unsure, however,
of the effect that acetone would have on LEGO plastic. You should try a small
amount of nail polish remover on the broken figure, if that is the correct glue,
then it should remove it.
Most plastics, however, are glued with the following, obtained by Googling it:
Plastic glue is typically made from volatile organic compounds and is toxic.
The medium viscosity glues are typically made from xylenes and n-butyl acetate,
while liquid glues are made from methyl-ethyl-ketone and ethyl acetate.
If it is plastic glue that fuses two plastics together at the contact points
of the plastic where the glue is applied, then there is no known way of reversing
the fused bonds. You would have to be exceptionally lucky to get usable minifigs
that could be taken apart and reassembled.
You can sell them as a minifigure, but you should list in the description for
the item that they have been glued together.

Nail polish remover is to Lego people what pure sulphuric acid is to humans.
Given the age of the figures and the strength of the glue, I would think that
they are best left as is. Just my thoughts.

I tried a non-acetone nail polish remover to try to get the expensive blue umbrella
poles off a UCS Tie Interceptor that someone had foolishly glued together. I've
seen this recommended many places, but it actually didn't loosen the glue
and it removed the blue color from the Lego parts. I was a bit sad throwing
a $300 set in the garbage, but what else are you going to do with 90% of a glued
together mess.

Where these released as magnets?
I found some Classic space type figs like you describe once, turned out they
were from a magnet set, no tanks so they could stand flush with the surface

I would think they'd be valuable to someone wanting a bunch of Blacktrons
for a display.

Can they be from the Key Chain ?
It dont look like there are any Air Tanks on those.
And Key Chain are normally glued.

Great information and comments - Appreciate all who took the time - of course
the idea of Dynamite (gave me a laugh) is not as practical as the others. They
maybe began life as a keychain but I don't see any chain attachment points.
So, I think I will leave them alone and not bother to try to unglue. Probably
wind up with an artist who does displays somewhere.
Thanks

You may have a production version of these (see picture). I have a bag of these
(~30 or so). I was told there were attached to clothing, for a promo event, somewhere
in Europe (UK I think). These are fully glued, and have a clip on the back which
they used for attachment (so no air tanks). Maybe you have a bunch without the
white clip, or with clip removed.

YES - out of that entire bag, I do have one that has that same clip (as your
photo) on the back. The other 250 don't. Maybe someone took the time to
take off the clips on the others? No visible marks however. What are you going
to do with yours?

They most likely will just stay in a bag in one of the "don't know what
to do with this" drawer. This drawer is full of interesting stuff, misprints,
short-shots, sew-on patches, items still on sprues, test bricks, even have a
red and a black ghost in there somewhere.
