| So, I was unsure about shipping selection on my page. An order came in for a
set. Apparently they selected 1st class shipping for it. To assure the selection,
I reached out to the buyer with no response. I waited a couple days and reached
out again, advising that if no response I would be issuing a refund. A couple
more days went by so and issued a refund. I waited for the refund to complete
and then I clicked on completed. Now I have a reminder of feedback. should I
have just cancelled the order (unsure that there was a selection for that) or
do I leave a neutral feedback as no contact after several attempts?

If an order came through Instant Checkout and was paid, you should have packed
and set the order.
Not all buyers see or respond to messages from BrickLink. If you really need
to contact them, send an email directly.
A refund does not cancel the order. You have to go through that process separately.
A buyer placed and paid for an order in your shop. There is no reason at all
to leave a neutral as it appears any mistakes made here may have been yours.

What is unusual about selecting first class shipping? However you set up instant
checkout, once the buyer paid you should have fulfilled the order unless there
was a serious reason you couldn't.

Depending on the weight and size of the set, First Class shipping wouldn't
be an option with USPS. However that's for the seller to work out - if you
don't want buyers to have that option then set the size limits on your shipping
appropriately

So in that case, the buyer selected a shipping option that the seller offered?
I agree with the earlier comments, the seller should have eaten the cost of their
error and then changed the IC settings.

Yes, exactly. Of course there are many sets that can be sent via First Class
(anything where the total weight of the set plus packaging is under 16 ounces),
so it's not possible to say for sure given the information offered by the
OP.

Definitely - it might not even have been that costly in the end.

If they paid , you should have shipped the order and fixed the shipping later
- As others have pointed out, not all buyers respond to BL Messages - you could
also try emailing them. But since you cancelled, I would just let it go and do
not leave any feedback, pray they don't leave you negative. On the rare times
I have cancelled , it was for mutual agreement with the buyer ( before I cancelled)
and once for a part that was not in stock and that is all they ordered. As a
seller, it is your job to ship, once the buyer pays. If you cancel , then don't
mark it as completed.

Thanks everyone! I've made the correction regarding shipping of sets. I was
trying to be sure that there wouldn't be any damage to box, especially shipping
1st class. As it seems that's important to a few. I will also be sure to
make some suggestions to that in my terms, just to assure some coverage.
Thanks again, as we continue to learn and figure everything out here.
