Hello everyone!

Does anyone know why the prices of sold parts seem inaccurate when you go back
and look at your price paid under the last 6 months sales data? For example,

I purchased a bunch of figures for EUR 1.76471 and it says I bought them for
$2.25. This is saying the exchange rate is 2.25/1.76=1.278. The conversion between
USD and EUR is currently closer to a 8% difference than 28% from my understanding.

The reason this is very problematic is I watched the the Qty average price over
the last 6 months go up substantially on this figure when my purchase price was
lower than the Qty average price. Can someone explain to me what goes into BLs
equation or are the conversions purely off by close to 20% from EUR to USD? I
see this often and must be missing something...

Thanks in advance!

I’ve also wondered but always just assumed it was something related to tax and
currency conversion.

Thanks for all the responses!

I could be wrong but from my understanding the taxes and shipping should not
be included in the price guide. I have an order open without an invoice for any
shipping charges added and it is still off by well over 20% and my tax rate is
only 6%. If it was included that is very misleading because sellers would list
prices around the average and then buyers would buy and the Qty average would
increase due to this added percentage. Then more sellers would add parts at the
new higher inaccurate average and the price has the potential to get perpetually
higher.

Does anyone know what admin I could discuss this with if we are all wondering
what goes into that formula?

yah its a bit confusing but might have something to do with how in Europe tax
is part of the price of the item so its more like buyers outside of Europe get
a discount but (possibly thru a bug) it adds it to the price history as if it
was sold at the original price

I've always wondered this too - I suspect that somehow it calculates the
average price that you paid per piece, including an equal distribution of taxes
+ shipping.

Shipping isn't included in the price guide.

The confusing part is often down to tax and should it be included or not. If
a US buyer buys from a US seller, they will have a tax based on the buyer's
state. If a UK or EU buyer's buys from the same seller, a different tax rate
is paid. These then lead to different prices for the same parts at the same base
price. Which should I see? Prices paid or what I would have had to pay - their
tax rate or my tax rate.

Prices shown to US buyers don't include tax - I guess that's one difference
between sales tax and VAT
