Hmm, suspicious, my first thought was it was real, because numbers do exist in
hats.
But the rim inside isn’t familiar to me…

But if it is a fake, it certainly looks the part.

Do you know where it came from?

No idea where it came from specifically, I received it in an order recently.

I have a few of them, all certified LEGO parts and all from 90's except the
Reddish Brown one, but they are all quite similar.
Maybe the other mold can come from more "recent" sets like Pirates of
the Carribean, for example...

+1 for me the numbering on the inside is different then normal numbering so I’d
vote fake also
