For a few parts, there exists in the catalog a separate PN such as

Part No: 3001old Name: Brick 2 x 4 without Cross Supports
*
3001old Brick 2 x 4 without Cross Supports
Parts: Brick
.
But what about the other vintage parts, like 6x10 plates that have no PN on the
back, just Lego on the studs? If you were really trying to recreate authentic
vintage sets, wouldn't you need to select from vintage PN?

I don't know the whole history of the vintage part entries for some of the
bricks, but my guess would be that it had to do with collectors wanting those
entries at the time. I don't know if they would be added again today if they
weren't already in the system. I do know that there are no plans to add any
more of them at this time.

Cheers,
Randy

Some sellers offer vintage parts but can't list them as separate entries. I have listed them as regular entries with a comment concerning customers should request vintage markings in the notes when an order is placed.

A PN does not constitute a structural difference to the part, so the presence
or absence of a PN does not result in a seperate catalog entry. Nor does the
'pat pend' text printed on many old vintage parts. (We have tried but
it was not accepted, and that's for the better as well it would create a
chaos in the catalog.)

Besides that, I think that many if not (almost) all vintage parts like these
are already in the catalog. I myself and a few other collectors have done a great
job some 10 years ago the add many vintage parts.

The main problem would still be not knowing, which version belongs to which set.
It's much more likely, it often took Lego several years to get old versions
out of stock or even production.

I've currently split 3001old in up to seven variations, and that only covers
split tubes, pat pend (all three versions exist with and without splits!) and
the CA bricks. There are probably several more versions within the "not split,
pat pend" ones for the Logo and a "bar" along the middle. Damn, these things
have clutch power like superglue And if you think, you have seen everything,
there comes a few "pend Pat" (jup, the lines mixed up…) or the whole writing
moved to the right…
