| I must admit that Bricklink has probably one of the most unorganized inventories
I've seen as it is such a pain to scroll through parts lists. For instance
you can have a 2x3 slope brick, and then you have the hundreds of different stickered/printed
versions and it is such a chore to navigate
Take for example the image I have uploaded. What I was trying to do was look
at many different minifigure molds for custom minifig builds and you end up coming
across like several dozen versions of part 2587 when I hardly consider alternative
prints to be original parts at all. It is also a problem when I am looking for
a part in a particular color but the system will tell you that color doesn't
exist only for you to find out that exact same part from rigorous searching is
available but has a slight print or something very minor in mold design.
The solution to this very simple organizational issue can be handled if
there was an option to display family parts as condensed together. Think of it
as being a folder for relating files on your personal computer.
So instead of having a hundred different variants of part 2587 (for instance),
the catalog could simply just display the original default 2587 (and if there
is no printless version of a part, just display the first one that was made (in
numerical order) as the default), and what this would do is allow users to only
see the original molds with all the alts condensed. There could be a little dropdown
menu sitting under the picture of the default/original mold that displays all
the alt versions when clicked.
But another helpful feature would also be to have colors that are exclusive in
a certain mold alt be presented as if they were the parent part and when that
color of that part is selected, there could be some kind of warning sign that
tells you that color will come with a print or have holds in the studs or something

You can add "-pattern" (without quotes) to a search to remove all entries with
printing etc.
