Hi,
I'd like to inventory some Friends Play Cubes from 2020, as they're still
not been inventoried, but there's some things that I'm not sure about.
(I've looked at the help section but did not find the answers.)

I have the sets 41662 and 41665, both include:
- custom cube parts,
- cloth pieces that attach to the outside of the Cubes,
- random color pet/animal.
All of the above is not yet in the Bricklink Catalog.

My questions:
1. I can add the 2 custom cube parts. Do I need to provide images? Can I use
official LEGO images from Brickset?
2. I have no idea how to add the cloth pieces, previous Friends Cubes did not
have cloth pieces and I have no precedence for item names. Do I just make a good
guess and rely on the inventory team to make the right call? Again, do I need
to provide photos and can I use official images?
3. For the random pet I can check Brickset for the official colors, but I only
have one actual pet. Is this course of action okay?

Thanks for now!
Best,
Peter

Both of those sets inventories are already in progress/pending approval.
But for future reference...

1) Yes, you need to provide images. I don't think items will be approved
unless they have an image uploaded. I seem to think they should be user supplied
images, but I could be wrong on that.

2) There is a Cloth category. Generally need to find the Design ID of the piece
and upload new part with that ID.

3) Don't see an issue with looking up the colours on somewhere like BrickSet...
but bear in mind that they use the actual Lego colour names... BL doesn't
always, so you'd need to convert them to the BL colour names.

For example, the Flamingo's in 41662...
Lego to BrickLink
Bright Bluish Green = Dark Turquoise
Bright Purple = Dark Pink
Flame Yellowish Orange = Bright Light Orange
Medium Lavender = Medium Lavender

Oops, didn't check that, thanks for letting me know.
BTW, what's the difference bt "pending approval" and "in progress"?

Regarding images - some parts have the same images on BL as are provided on Brickset,
which are marked (c)LEGO over there. These for example:
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=64462pb01
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=64454
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=24111pb03

https://brickset.com/parts/6324830/box-3x8x6-2-3-w-hinge-male-no-5
https://brickset.com/parts/6303815/box-3x8x62-3-w-hinge-female
https://brickset.com/parts/6324837/dog-w-hole-dia-1-5-no-28

I've never seen a cloth piece that has any number anywhere on it. They come
in little boxes, in the case of 41662, two different pieces in a box, with a
long string of numbers printed on the box, that has nothing to do with the item
names on BL...

Thanks for helping,
best,
Peter

"In Progress" means that the inventory has been reserved to be inventoried. "Pending
Approval" means that the inventory is in the process of being completed and verified
by an admin.

https://brickset.com/parts/6324837/dog-w-hole-dia-1-5-no-28

Any images provided publicly by LEGO are able to be used here.

A cloth piece can be assigned a part number immediately if the inventory for
the set that contains it has been made publicly available by LEGO. Then, you
just need to look it up through Brickset or through LEGO Bricks & Pieces.

If the inventory has not been publicly released, then BrickLink will assign a
'bb' number to it. This is a placeholder number for a part for which
the Design ID is not known.

The little cardboard sleeves and boxes that parts like this come in are listed
in the "Cardboard Sleeve" parts category:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogListOld.asp?pg=1&catString=1060&catType=P&v=2

These can be inventoried, also, so that buyers and sellers can know what comes
in them without having to open them.

Cheers,
Randy
