I recently bought YELLOW axles 50450 from a dealer on Bricklink offering them
in quantities at a reasonable price.
After arriving I noticed these axles being a bit lighter of colour. Because the
are more colour varieties I wasn't alarmed directly.
But when I looked a bit closer to the axles I also noticed the 'cross'
on the edge of the axle was a bit less sharp. I think normally there is a dimple
at one of the ends- these axes don't have one.
The combination of a quantity offer of this part, the colour difference and the
slightly rougher shape raises some questions.
If it is original: Perfect. If it isn't: How could we stop this? I guess
99% of the customers won't notice.
Or is it simply the end of the premium prices for this sort of parts??
Or place a warning with a clear description of the original?
I have a couple of used, genuine of the 32 long axles.
They do not have dimples on the ends, they are flat ends. They also appear slightly
lighter than flat yellow parts but this might be an effect of the way light bounces
off them as they are a much smaller flat surface area compared to a tile for
example.

Hi
Colour: I did not compare them with yellow parts, but with the hunderds of yellow
AXLES in different lenght and coming from various sources I have in stock.
The dimple in the black or white axles I have is very tiny.
When I compare the cross of the white and black axle 32 with this of the yellow
ones, it is much sharper.I will try to make a photo.

I sure won't win the photo competition and I hope it is clear.
Left: shorter yellow axle. Middle: the yellow 32 axle. Right: the white 32 axle.
Although the photo is not the best you can see that the yellow 32 has not ther
sharp cross the other axles have.

Thanks! The white 32 clearly has LEGO, the yellow one doesn't have it. The
material is the same. Clutch power not tested yet. So the question is: Do all
original 32 axles have the LEGO sign. Main difference is the cross the 32 had
slightly undeeper grooves and the cross is between 0,50- 1 mm thicker.

Mine don't have the lego sign. Although they are not as fat looking as yours.
Mine are from 2013 #60004.

Thanks! Yes the fat cross is the big question. But anyway you can see how difficult
it is to find out what is original and what isn't...and this is a bit worrying.
I started the whole post because I am reselling the parts and I want to be sure
that I sell original parts, especially because these parts fetch a large premium.
And of course the idea of paying 90 Euro for 10 axles that maybe can be bought
from Ali for 2 Euro all 10... free postage..If this is the case I don't blame
the seller directly, because there may be more chains in the selling process..but
if it are really fake parts someone is making a giant profit...

I now also note that the white original LEGO axle has a flat somewhat lower recktangle
place with a dot in the middle on both sides of the end of the axle. The yellow
doesn't have this. But it could be another mold?
