Similar to the "minifigs must be complete in order to list under minifig listing",
this should be extended to animals as well.
An elephant without ears should be listed as a custom item or broken down.
Likewise, a basilisk without teeth is not a basilisk, but a custom assembly of
part.

Agreed. If your entry doesn’t contain what the catalogue entry says it should,
then it shan’t be listed under that catalogue entry.

Have to agree. I'm a bit on the fence as to whether or not an incomplete
option for figs should exist, but assuming that's not even a discussion,
and because of the decision made for the minifigures (or rather, it is more clearly
described now in the terms), then other kinds of assemblies like animals should
follow suit.
There will come a time when the catalogue will have animals which are figures
treated as figures, and move these from the parts category. That should help
with some of these listings.

Until that time, animals are parts. In my view, incomplete parts, similar to
incomplete stickersheets, are used. I do not think it can be a custom item if
it is an incomplete counterpart or a used part.

I do not agree. At least not if we are talking about 'listing' as in
making shop inventory available to be sold.
It should remain possible to list an incomplete minfigure or animal figure. Of
course it should be clearly noted that the figure is incomplete.
Why would I have to list an elephant with one missing ear as separate parts or
'custom'? Custom is really not correct as it is a catalog entry, just
with a part missing.
Separate parts could be an alternative, but I as a seller prefer to sell figures
complete or almost complete.
Where can I find this rule about listing minifigures?

It isn't allowed.

Incomplete Minifigs - All minifigs, both New and Used, must be listed
as Complete. Incomplete minifigs should be broken down and listed as parts, or
listed in the custom items section with a custom photo and clear description.

Thanks
That means I have to change some minifig listings to 'custom'.
Removing the itemnumber and checking the 'custom' box does not seem work?!

Oh it does work in the 'older version' but not in 'newer version'
of 'edit more' of the listing.
So yesterday I changed my inomplete minifig listings to cusom items (with custom
picture). And they were deleted anyway?! And of course without any notification.
