The inventory of both is exactly the same and (imho) both minifigs in the pictures
look the same as well.
The only difference is the average price sold, new is about double the price
of old.
If they're exactly the same, just one is from old sets and the other from
more recent collectible minifig sets, do they really need separate entries?
In a lot of used Lego I found torso

But still, if the inventory is exactly the same, does it need a separate entry?
Imho, there should be at least a note saying what the difference is. And wouldn't
that note be sufficient?
For this one, there's only a note to explain the difference, no separate
entry.

I think the older one should have a plain-studed head too.
But inventories don’t always show these differences.
So it’s more that we know they use different variants but it doesn’t show in
the inventories (yet?).

In a lot of used Lego I found torso
is wrong and should contain a reissued torso entry similar to
*
973p46newc01 (Inv) Torso Castle Forestman Shirt with Laces, Black Belt with Buckle, Dark Brown Pouch, Yellow Neck Pattern, Inside with Ribs (Reissue) / Green Arms / Yellow Hands Parts: Minifigure, Torso Assembly, Decor.

I submitted inventory for this one what is wrong then with it it has in inventory
rtorso with long ribs I thought this is correct torso
Don't know that anything is wrong with it, it's simply on the list supplied.
If nothing's wrong with it, great. As always, I defer to you catalog people,
and why I ended my post to Randy with "if anything"

The inventory for that one is correct. The list supplied was just a list of all
minifigures in the catalog with "reissue" in their name. Not all of those minifigures
have incorrect inventories.

Yeah, I understood that, Randy. Thanks. I don’t follow catalog threads that deep.
The topic doesn’t interest me, I’m sorry to say. I’m just throwing out there
to you or any others involved with bettering the catalog, that I’m here to help
in any small way that I can, when I can.
If you or any of the other catalog people, see an item in our inventory that
can help you in doing your jobs, just let me know. I’ll make the time to check,
confirm, measure, weight, photo, add to the catalog or even send to you.

If you could create the new catalog entry for a reissued torso of minifigure
post001new, we could fix the inventory.
Cheers,
Randy
So if I understand correctly, for most of these reissued minifigs, the only difference
is the inside of the torso and the stud difference of the head (open/hollow instead
of solid)?
Shouldn't it be best to put up a note about this on the "old" minifig entries?
You guys (and girls/women) have been dealing with every change all these years,
so you know all the differences.
Try looking at it from someone new on the website or new with building Lego.
(Or in my case, someone that has been away from Lego for the last 25 years)
Looking at the assembled minifig, there's absolutely no way of seeing the
difference.
And if you didn't know about the variations of the inside of the torso, you
wouldn't even know the difference if you disassemble the minifig.
And what about trn252?
It looks like a reissue of but020, shouldn't it be named but020new then?
If you want to keep those reissues consistent.

Pretty much. The separate entries help buyers wanting period-specific minifigures
for their old sets, so that they don't get modern reissued minifigures instead.
Shouldn't it be best to put up a note about this on the "old" minifig entries?
I can't do that, but the Catalog Associates can.

I agree, so the additional notes are a good idea for the minifigure entries.
