| Hi,
The reason why 3830c01 Hinge Brick 1 x 4 Swivel is marked for deletion is not
justified IMHO ("it sets a precedent for adding dozens of unnecessary combinations
of hinges").
I don't think anyone has the intention to create colour-combinations for
these two parts combined.
Most sellers just want to sell the two parts together to avoid unequal (worthless)
quantities of the underlying parts.
So can this decision be undone please so that new items can be listed?
Best regards,
Kris - Autour des Briques

There is a slight flaw in your logic:
- if the part sells only symmetrically, you won't end up with unequal amounts;
- if the part sells asymmetrically, which you seem to fear is the case, you may
have unequal amounts at some time, but since your presumption was that parts
sell asymmetrically, this would not be any problem whatsoever, since both parts
will keep on selling in unequal amounts.
Only if one of both sides were used in a popular MOC and the other not, would
demand and prices grow away, like seen at some collectable minifigures.
There are other reasons beyond the one cited:
- whether or not the parts came assembled by LEGO in the first place
- whether inventories of MOC's will state both halves separately (like Studio
does) or together.
Theoretically, you could use the superlot system to bind the left/right or top/bottom
part together (although practically this seems to not work so well with Autobuy).

When they set everyone's default to ignore superlots, they killed the superlot.
Perhaps another function could be made just for paired parts.

Yes, some kind of superlot but limited to some approved parts.
Whitelisted superlots.

Let’s be careful with Studio’s inventories: (if the model doesn’t use them in
a fixed position) they also separate hands and arms and torsos, legs and hips,
2430 and 2429, and so on.

As someone who now sit with unequal quantities of the underlying parts in inventory,
I have to agree. I would still sell these as unassembled 3830c01, but at least
it would clean up my listings if we could sell them as a combination without
having to resort to superlots. Those who want to sell them separately, such as
for 3930c*, should of course be welcome to do so.
Alternatively, consider making these a special assembly and update inventories
for counterparts. We do after all have 3930c* as counterparts with all sorts
of colour combinations. We also have listings for these parts as new, despite
such inventory probably being assembled. I do not think I've ever had an
complete assembled 3930c* in any new set. Actually, and I just checked, every
single catalogue entry for 3930c01 is a counterpart.

Isn't that also true for wedges? I don't have this problem.. But I agree

I'm not sure in what form or shape that would be exactly.

The no precedent excuse does not hold water. There is a whole gamut of 3937 assemblies
listed in the catalog. Like Stormchaser stated and is trying to overcome: things
happen here on the whim of a single Admin. This particular case is an example
of an illogical decision.

| This should be the seller's choice. Thanks to some obnoxious decision, I
have to manually list treasure chests in sets as a single item. But at least
I still have the choice. Buyers seem willing to pay a little extra to have the
parts grouped together. It saves them the hassle of wading through sellers missing
the counterpart piece. Or worse yet, having to pay shipping on two packages.
