I can definitely see the 4 slots on the tow ball plate sockets, but I can't
be sure if the sockets are 7mm or 8mm from those images. Do you have larger images
of these that you posted?

I can definitely see the 4 slots on the tow ball plate sockets, but I can't
be sure if the sockets are 7mm or 8mm from those images. Do you have larger images
of these that you posted?

I don't think better photos would make you 100% sure. Since I have had the
two variants at hand and check them closely, I am 99.99% that these are 3183c.
By the way, the theory suggests that the 8mm 4 slots were discontinued in 70s
For now, only three sets from 90s listed

I believe they are all wrong and 3183b should be replaced with 3183c.

The creases in the plastic bag make it impossible to see the distance from the
slots to the plate which is the easiest way to tell the two variants apart. But
comparing the length of the socket to the width of the plate it does look look
a 7mm socket to me.
I also think you're probably right about the timeline for 3183b and that
it probably never came in sets in the 1990s.

I am not really familiar with these, but 8 mm would reach to halfway between
those studs. Reza was correct.
