My parents bought this set in 1990-91. I remember very well the wheels came assembled.
Few months after I got this set, my cousin got the legendary set 5590-1. Once
I was in his room, I saw he had built the second model of 5590 in which two light
gray 2695 White Wheel were used without tires. I was surprised it was possible
to take off the wheels from tires and asked him how hard it was to do so. He
said it was very hard. I then tried this on one of my own wheels and finally
took the wheel off (after some time effort) but didn't want to do that again
anymore!

Hi Fred,

Many thanks for the link. I had seen this but I had this set in my childhood
anyway.
