I am looking for gray bricks and part, but anywhere I look people only sell dark
or light bluish gray instead of regular gray parts. Why is that? Where are the
good old light gray parts? Why did regular gray become so rare?
It's because Lego replaced light grey with light bluish grey a long time
back so now all the light greys are harder to get, unfortunately.

That's correct. In 2006 LEGO changed Light Gray to Light Bluish Gray, Dark
Gray to Dark Bluish Gray and Brown to Reddish Brown. So all sets from after 2006/2007
have these 3 new colors and all before have the old colors. So the old colors
become more and more rare - especially in new conditions.

It isn't even because it was a long time back. The price of light gray spiked
FAST. People have gotten used to LBG, maybe because they had to, but a year
after the switch light gray was rare and expensive. I think the custom builders
didn't want to make the switch.

I had always believed 100% the change was made to save money. That was something

Whoa, was it really that dumb? That's one of the most pathetic things I read
in a long time and I don't even know where to start.. 1. they don't
even save any money on the change?? 2. I don't even believe that since to
me as an artist the pigments actually do look alot cheaper 3. how can you give
such a dramatic change so little thought 4. what does it even mean when someone
says "next time I will listen to you as well as a group of kids before I make
my decision" 4. how can you apologise so pathetically and give absolutely
nothing and not even make the smallest bsh*t gesture of saying you will pay more
attention next time and literally write there will likely be more "mistakes"

I always assumed it was because of Star Wars, that the old grey and dark grey
colors weren't quite up to snuff to depict SW sets.

Why are we still talking about this, there are many videos on YouTube discussing
the colour grey.(I recommend watching R.R. Slugger he knows just about all there
is to know about old Lego colours and sets)
Please time to move on and try to forget the poor decisions that Lego made.(like
