We currently have some damaged items in our shop. We offer them at a discount
and some buyers enjoy being able to buy very cheap items for filling purposes,
among others.

We add the fact that the lots are damaged in the description so that people know
what they're buying. The problem is that when going through a wish list,
bricklink will select those items seeing as they're cheaper and some buyers
understandably don't want to buy damaged items.

Would there be interest in the community to ask bricklink to add a tick box for
'damaged' when used is selected? This would benefit all involved, buyers
could simply select a tick box to identify damaged items and buyers could choose
whether they want to have damaged items taken in account for a wishlist.

If there is another solution that currently exists, we're obviously interested!

Right now we're at the point where we're wondering if we should open
a second store for just damaged items but that would involve a lot more work
on our part and we're not sure if it would be allowed by bricklink.

There is another LEGO marketplace that allows you to choose from 3 quality levels
when listing used parts. Maybe you should just list them there instead?

I think you have a great idea. I have noted in a previous forum post that many
customers, especially new customers, may purchase damaged items inadvertently,
because they do not see the description. They just go after the best deal for
the piece. While I now try not to list damaged items at all, I still may list
them with a description on a case by case basis. When someone orders an item
from me with a discrepancy, I try to make sure that I email them to make sure
that they are aware of the discrepancy. Perhaps, things would be a lot simpler
if there was a category for items with discrepancies, or maybe it would complicate
things too much, but its interesting nonetheless. Regardless, I think it should
be a requirement to post your own picture of the item, instead of using the stock
photo, to help eliminate confusion.

As well as this, it will prevent 'filler bricks' from distorting the
price guide downwards for used parts.

The problem is one person's damaged is another person's used. And if
someone gets a used part that in their view is damaged, then they will complain
that it should have been listed as damaged not used.

I'd prefer used to be split into three grades: (1) like new, (2) acceptable,
(3) filler. You'd still get the problems of arguments about borderlines (eg
acceptable vs filler), but at least it would also introduce an extra band for
better quality used parts. Currently used means anywhere from essentially perfect
but used even just once through to almost trash.

As sure as some others already posted Used/Damaged... is the same thing with
some sellers.

As much as it would seem like a good Idea. I would much rather go back to something
that will date me as well as some Old school-Rs here.

Back in the day, Bricklink had AUCTIONS. Can you believe that? Yes actual Auctions,
Just like Fleabay but, that went away... I found that auction for Damaged or
Heavy Used would fit better there. To me its the best way to handle the "What
if I wanted to sell" Portion of BL that is NOT already covered. Such as Bulk
and custom Lots or Junk. Some people Junk is others Treasure.

Just my 2 fake Copper Pennies worth.

I'd rather see Auctions come back before a Damaged section
