You're right, I haven't seen there were a note. But on the other side,
I download the 2 version available on LEGO website (the V29 for EU A4 standard,
and the V39 for US/non-metric standars), and both have this as regular part...?
Does it means that 4 versions of the booklet exist ?

What's hard to believe in this case is how the 2 x 4 plate would be added
without any adjustment (addition or subtraction) of other parts. Sure, there
are cases like this - I call them zero-quantity alternates - but I've seen
plenty of instances where inventories were only *partially* adjusted for a redesign
version, and it seems this is the case with this inventory. It looks like whatever
the early version was, it didn't last very long, so it may be hard to find
instructions for the version without the additional plate.

Actually, by the look of the model as originally designed (see set image) but
without seeing the first version of the instructions, it seems that the light
assembly was shifted forward to avoid the opening and closing of the hatch. If
the LBG 1 x 4 was originally up under the 1 x 1 light plates, this could indeed
be a zero-quantity alternate situation. Don't know if this is the case for
sure, but it certainly is plausible.

Paul has a set of the instructions that is different from the one currently available
at lego.com As soon as he takes a break from watching THE MASTERS Golf Tournament,
I will venture in to his office where he and the scanner are.

There is no white 2x4 plate in the element list of his instructions.

You are correct that the LBG 1x4 sits on top of the white 1x6. I have just opened
and closed the hatch several times and did not have any problem with the original
design.

Though taking the definition of BL, since there are 2 differents iventories,
with 2 differents set of "regular" part, shouldn't we have 2 entry for this
set, like a 4441-1 and 4441-2 ?

Using different entries is a solution, but at this point in BL history it is
only reserved for those situations where the boxes have been changed *and* the
differences between the inventories are substantial (i.e. more than a few parts):

I fully understand that it may become a nightmare to have multiplication in entries.
On the other hand, the way it's done actually, you can have well have somebody,
trading the set with the inventory without this counter/regular part coming with
the booklet that show it (for instance I use to check inventory on-line to avoid
manipulating the booklet). Hence BL can "create" some tension between sellers
and buyer doing so...
And as I get tricked with this set (not seeing the note), I guess I can be tricked
again with some others....

Just a thought

Thanks, Thea! I have a strong personal interest in Lego redesigns and this instruction
scan will help me with that endeavor.

I should have been watching the Masters too, but have been stuck reconfiguring
my printer setup this afternoon. Maybe tomorrow...

White plate 2x4 is not a counterpart, but a regular (used in step 48 of booklet 2à Furthermore match ID of actual counterpart match nothing inn iventory.

Have you read the notes on the inventory?

I have just opened
and closed the hatch several times and did not have any problem with the original
design.

Always An Adventure!

Thanks, Thea! I have a strong personal interest in Lego redesigns and this instruction
scan will help me with that endeavor.

I should have been watching the Masters too, but have been stuck reconfiguring
my printer setup this afternoon. Maybe tomorrow...

Russell

Just to give a little context to my not interrupting him. When he was younger,
Paul played The Masters course twice and also the Old and New Courses at St.
Andrews. All the surgeries he's had on his neck and back means he can't
play golf anymore.

Really going to go do some cooking now!

I didn't download the online for Book 1. The Book 1 in hand says 6000324
Book 2 online is 6013619 and the Book 2 in hand is 6000326.

The cover of both Book 2s show the original build, but online Book 2 shows the
revised build on page 2, 28, and from page 55 to 60.

You caught me just in time as I'm headed off to bed now.
